The physical appearance of Qu'orthseth and other demons of its world was actually inspired by the Michelin Man. Qu'orthseth has appeared in three of my #fantasy novels as sidekick and bodyguard (but it would protest if you referred to it as a 'servant') of the wizard Im (who calls it 'Cory').

Dance God sings in each of us however differently we dance. And if we tread on one another’s toes some times, it’s no great deal. The music will go on. Stephen Brooke ©2026 #poetry #dance

I did a little research (always a good idea) and found a truly major hurricane, Matthew, was bearing down on Florida's Atlantic coast when I was intending to send my protagonists there on a weekend jaunt. I either need to work the storm in somehow or reschedule their vacation!

The Last Hurricane That’s it for another hurricane; how many it makes, I don’t know. I quit keeping count quite some years ago. I hope that’s it for the season, but I’m sure old Neptune could throw another one (or two!) into the Gulf of Mexico. Stephen Brooke ©2026 #poetry #hurricane

One thing I particularly like about a first person point of view is that one can put all sorts of crackpot theories and explanations (not to mention odd opinions) in the narrator's mouth and the reader needn't mistake them for 'the truth.'

We should call #ebikes mopeds like we did sixty years ago. The concept is the same, just the motor has changed. I included a Solex moped in my Women in the Sun novels (written as Sienna Santerre), remembering one of my classmates in Sixties Naples had one. Noisy, with a decidedly minimalist design!
