Shocked to see the WNBA give game 3 to the Aces after not suspending A’ja Wilson for entering the stands and confronting a Fever fan the last game. At that point, the WNBA decided who they wanted to advance. The officiating has shown as much. Only 2 LV fouls called until the last minute of the 4Q.

Should Wilson be suspended for the next game for going into the stands to intimidate a fan? She was in the lane when the fan points at her and yells. Wilson then proceeds to enter the stands voluntarily to confront them. That was her choice. I assume the WNBA won’t but it’s setting a bad precedent.

I wonder if the ball in the Michigan game touched the upright on the first Hail Mary pass to leave 1 second left on the clock. That’s the best explanation I could come up with because the ball definitely didn’t touch anyone prior to the clock expiring. 😳

Three out of four Belgium goals were on poor clearances by the USMNT. Just straight giveaways. Awful way to go out. Still so proud of the team and am very hopeful for the future.

I realize FIFA doesn’t have an appeal mechanism to overturn Balogun’s red card. However, when the VAR official did not follow FIFA’s own protocols to bring the referee to the monitor to review the play, the suspension should be withdrawn. If not for VAR misapplying the rules, there is no red card.

Changing this in May and have it affect the draft in June is definitely going to not raise suspicion that it’s not a conspiracy. They should change the tanking rules but it’ll have to go into affect next year. Doing it retroactively will be an absolute mess.

Adam Silver said it was "unanimous" among owners today at the NBA board of governors meeting today that the league needs to change tanking rules and do it before the draft this June. There will be a special BOG session in May to deal with that. Silver: "We are going to fix it. Full stop."

Would’ve been more appropriate if he got it at the free throw line. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here’s SGA crossing the 20-point threshold. 127 straight. Crowd let him know he was on the verge, if he somehow didn’t know already. Wilt’s record is now Shai’s.

Nah, he’s full of it. Make the Ravens forfeit the two 1st Round picks they traded to the Raiders as punishment. Everyone knew Crosby was recovering from a knee injury. They still agreed to the deal. Then negotiated with Hendrickson before Crosby’s physical and saw an opportunity to keep their picks.

Ravens GM Eric DeCosta on backing out of the Maxx Crosby trade with the Raiders: "We live in that age of skepticism, and people question... I understand how people, maybe from afar, would feel that way. But nobody is more upset about this than me. Gutted by it, actually." #NFL

Jones’s agent must’ve paid the Athletic editor a ton to put him as the photo and in the title.

The Athletic@theathletic.com

NFL free agency is here, with the legal tampering window opening Monday at noon ET and the new league year commencing Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET. Who are the best players available for your team to sign? We’re tracking all of them right here.

There was nothing about what Daniel Jones did in the #Colts hot start that made me say “wow… he’s a franchise changing QB.” They just need a QB that can read a defense and play smart. Shoot, Philip Rivers stepped in after 5 years away and almost beat the eventual Super Bowl champions at Seattle.

Paying Jones upwards of $35-40M per year would be a colossal mistake for the franchise. He’s never finished a full season because of injury. And what more, the #Colts saw how this played out with the New York Giants. We know how this story ends if you don’t change the narrative. 🤦‍♂️

We’ve been discussing this in the StampedeBlue chat but if the #Colts sign Daniel Jones for more than $25M per year, they’re screwed. I’d rather sign Kyler/Tua for $15-22M per year and be able to bring back Pierce, Smith and Cross plus sign Hendrickson and a LB than signing Jones at $45M and Pierce.

I hate to tell #Pacers fans but they can pretty much be assured the #NBA isn’t going to let them have a top 4 pick after being fined for tanking in a situation where they clearly weren’t. They’ve never gotten the top pick in the #NBADraft. The NBA will make sure it doesn’t happen this year either.

It begins:

That’s the third drive in a row where NE’s defense has been in perfect position for every play SEA has run. 🤔🤔🤔 #SuperBowlLX

Stephen Reed@stephenreed.bsky.social

That’s now two drives where NE looked like they knew every single play SEA was running. Given NE’s franchise history and the fact McDaniels was busted for it twice, and Vrabel learned from a coach that did it, it’s hard to give them the benefit of the doubt if it keeps happening. 🤷‍♂️ #SuperBowl

It felt like NE’s defense knew exactly what plays SEA was running that first drive. Josh McDaniels got busted for video taping opponents practices when he was the Broncos HC. Not saying it happened again but would it shock anyone? youtube.com/shorts/dT-dt...

If Notre Dame, by making the CFP title game one year ago, means they haven’t been relevant in years, Cam Newton is saying the SEC hasn’t been relevant for even longer then? If so, why is the SEC getting preferential treatment in the CFP? That’s obviously ridiculous, as is Cam Newton’s opinion.

Awful Announcing@awfulannouncing.bsky.social

Cam Newton: "Notre Dame hasn't been relevant in years." Shae Cornette: "They were just in the national championship game one year ago"

Cignetti should’ve gone for it there. Miami now knows it needs a TD here so they’ll go for it every 4th down. If you don’t get it on 4th down, Miami has to drive the length of the field and would kick to tie the game if they got close enough.

This may be the worst officiated National Championship game in history. And yeah, I remember the one Miami got screwed in bak against Ohio State. This is way, way worse.

Miami’s defense is basically just maul the Hoosiers because they know the officials aren’t going to call everything on every play. They figure they’ll muddy up the game and dare the refs to call it. It’s worked so far.

I keep seeing this narrative that if the ball popped out, it’s an incomplete pass. But that is a logical fallacy. Cooks has possession of the ball with full control after “surviving the ground” and rolling over. The ball doesn’t move prior to Cooks rolling over with possession. It was a catch.

Wow. The exact same play was on the Denver INT that set up this drive in OT and there was no DPI called. They call it now to effectively give DEN the game. Bills should’ve won in regulation if not for massive mental errors but the officials screwed the Bills royally in OT.

That was a catch by Cooks. Simultaneous possession goes to the offense. No idea how they called that an INT when Cooks had both hands on the ball, he’s on the ground and contacted by the defender then the defender rips it away after a full roll over.

Denver had 13 points off turnovers. The FG off the Josh Allen fumble at the end of the 1H could end up being the game. No reason Allen should’ve been doing what he did there.

It’s interesting that the decline of the SEC coincides with the rise of NIL. It’s almost like they had some sort of unknown advantage before all the other schools could legally pay players that made high school kids want to go to the middle of no where to play football. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Miami beats Ole Miss, meaning it'll be the third consecutive season without an SEC team in the national title game. Over the last 3 years, SEC teams are 3-8 in CFP games vs other conferences. Quite a difference from the previous two decades: www.nytimes.com/athletic/693...
