This panel is how I learned there was more than one Highlander film

The green light has come through and so I am thrilled to confirm will be at @paxaus.bsky.social this year with my most deranged panel pitch to date (feat. @stephpanecasio.bsky.social @zacspeaksgiant.bsky.social @nomibelle.bsky.social and @lawksland.bsky.social)

perhaps the most concerning thing about the alert system going off is that it did not occur to me that I could simply press a button on my phone to stop the noise, and therefore simply let it go off for far longer than necessary.

I keep forgetting that this is a place for me to put thoughts, so HERE ARE A FEW RECENT ONES: - Astro Bot deserved the GOTY win - Alcohol slushies are my new #1 enemy - Moving a massive bookshelf on your own is HARD but I DID IT and more people should congratulate me (I have so many bruises)

hey! do you speak french? are you patient when people speak slowly? do you want to chat with me in french so that I can try to recover all my lost language skills after not having used it in over a decade? if the answer to all of these questions is "yes", hi please be my friend 😌

The Australian video game journalism piece is important and covers a lot of necessary ground, but if I’m being candid, as one of the few very lucky people to still be employed and trying to keep it alive every day, often these articles make it feel like more of an uphill battle.

I recognise the position of privilege I have, to be able to work in this gig full time. There are so many wildly talented people who have lost that opportunity this year alone, and I don’t take it for granted - David Smith, for instance, is one of the absolute best in the game.

I could go on, but the bottom line is this: the article is right. It doesn’t matter who you are, we’ve all been affected by layoffs, traffic roller coasters and uncertainties. But we’re also pretty scrappy and stubborn so, here’s hoping, right?

If you really want to keep Australian game journalism afloat, I beg you to do more than share that article. Engage actively with the platforms that remain - even if it’s not GH! I’m not precious! Share the cool shit that’s still circulating, and make a point of celebrating that local talent.

I’ll start! Even without any bias, Leah Williams is the most talented games writer I know. Her ability to turn around clean, engaging and funny content is matched only by the pace at which she can do it (I call her a freak, affectionately, and I’m right to do it)

You are up to date.
