🔴: I think I can learn almost anything. 🟡: Emphasis on "almost." 🟢: I really can. Just another gifted millennial trying to survive another once-in-a-lifetime world crisis.

A little of both. Impressed by my financial health. Disappointed by my social and mental. Particularly by my complete lack of hobbies and doing fun things with my time.

Always a sucker for a personality test. I think this is fairly accurate, but I might put determination higher and justice lower.

So far so.. good? More things are going right than wrong on vacation. Some things going wrong. Rolling with it, making it work, having a good time. The real meat of the vacation starts tomorrow, when I get on the cruise ship.

Huge vacation coming up in two days. Almost four full weeks off. The amount of reserves I burned through to get here is unreal. I haven't worked this hard since undergrad. I REALLY need this vacation to go well, and there are so many variables beyond my control.. please think good thoughts for me.

I came up with a really great name for my project when I started it. Five months in, they made me change it to something soulless and shitty. It's been another four months, I think they're gonna make me change it again. If I had any fucks left to give, this would've used the last of 'em.

There we are, we have now reached the stage of short-term-burnout where I'm making stupid mistakes. What's the solution? Ah yes, more pressure. LFG.

This past week I've surprised myself with how much I've been able to keep track of, both at work and at home. I thought I lost that with the Wellbutrin and Topamax. Makes me worry that yes, I'm juggling 20 things, but I'm forgetting the 1 most important.

As a Californian, seeing all the posts about the wildfires: Get out your covid mask, friend. Smoke particles are large enough that even cloth masks help.

Probably bad that I find myself wanting, more and more, to spend my waking hours.. not awake. I just want time to pass until the next interesting thing that I'm looking forward to.

It's important to remember that as a rule, every human life has worth and value. And it's important to remember that there are exceptions to every rule.

hey when we find out mitch mcconnell is dead, there are going to be people who say respectful things. there are going to be people who point to all of our shared humanity. there are going to be people who call for decorum and not speaking ill of the dead. block every last one

Fascinating to watch the way I am eroding. Short temper. Forgetfulness. Making mistakes. Depression. Even less motivation than usual. New Achievement: This morning I accidentally took my nighttime meds again instead of my morning meds. Reward: Face tingling and increased pulse rate!

Also how the fuck was that three years ago. I still feel like I'll never get to do that again. But also sort of like I would really like to. And also sort of like I don't actually NEED to (yet?), so I guess I'm doing better.

Today is the last day of my three month "I'm too depressed to work" medical leave. I'm less depressed, so I guess it worked? But also, how the fuck was that three months, it feels more like three weeks.

Currently lying in bed feeling like shit and reevaluating that last sentence. Yes, I'm messing with my antidepressants right now, so whatever. But all I'm doing is going up to 150% what I was already on. I shouldn't feel this shitty because of that.

Neat how an antidepressant can just.. stop working after like 15 months. Neat how upping the dose immediately brings back the side effects just like the initial ramp up. (Here I am using "neat" as a synonym for "shitty.")

Explain your @ StereoVenom is an anagram of my name, simple. My regular s/n is Stave. Like 25 years ago on IRC, one of my friends typoed "Steve" as "Stave." I lol'd, called him an idiot, and typed `/nick Stave` to make fun of him. It was available, so I registered it. Apparently forever.

Got a local weatherlady to yell at me for complaining about the emergency alerts last night. But seriously, I don't need an "it hasn't stopped raining so the flood hasn't stopped flooding" alert every three hours. I know. I am aware. The first alert was sufficient. I can tell it's still raining.

If you aren't sure if your antidepressants are working, I wonder if that means you can be sure they're not working. I don't feel like doing things. Like the world sucks, it can't be fixed, and my ability to enjoy it is extremely damaged by how bad it is. I probably need a vacation.

Randomly browsing TikTok livestreams, I found someone doing riddles. I actually wound up ending the stream with this gem. One of my prouder moments on the internet.

I was feeling like my appetite had finally returned to normal, but now I'm on a work trip and food is free and restaurants don't know what portion sizes are and I don't want to eat a goddamn thing because it's all going to be too much. Fucking Topamax.

Whoever's in the hotel room next to mine is snoring so loud they woke me up. I am impressed in the worst, most annoyed kind of way.

I don't really think of myself as a wordsmith, despite being a published lyricist a few times. But I AM pretty proud of describing @jococruise.bsky.social as a place where "I revel in being surrounded by the joy of unrestrained diversity." (also proud to be quoted in their reels, lol)

The more I'm forced to use AI at work, the more I dread the inevitable consequences. It makes me not care about my code. Sure, the program works. But the code isn't going to be elegant, maintainable, readable, or any of the things that make code *good*. And nobody will notice until it's too late.

New Shoes - Paolo Nutini Down On The Beat - Viktus & Ren Bled for Days - Static X Code Monkey - Jonathan Coulton Moar Ghosts 'N Stuff - Deadmau5 Duality - Slipknot Rascal King (Live) - Mighty Mighty Bosstones No Trouble - The Weepies Cheese - Stray Kids Fasten your Seatbelts - Pendulum

I can't believe I have to say this, but if you take the number 600 and reduce it to 10, there is absolutely no way to call that a 600% reduction. It's a 98.34% reduction. 98.34% of 600 is 590. To say otherwise is to be a fucking idiot that doesn't know what he's talking about.

1. Get the kids addicted to free ChatGPT, by letting it do their homework for them. 2. The kids become adults, who don't know how to think, and are addicted to ChatGPT. 3. Start charging for ChatGPT.

I know a "moon hoax" guy. I finally figured out why it bothers me so much. It's because when faced with something he doesn't understand, he'd rather deny its reality than try to understand it. And also, have you SEEN an NRHO path? Holy shit that's cool! How can you choose to pretend that's fake?!

I am known to love technology and embrace the future. I always want the latest gadgets and coolest toys. The latest OS update is older than what I run. I still fucking hate AI and refuse to use it or integrate it into my daily workflow. Stupid clankers.

Today's wheel of emotions: - Excitement: moon flyby - Disgust: genocidal tweets - Apathy: work meetings I can feel myself emotionally disengaging from the world, nothing makes sense anymore. It's too insane to be attached to. Shrinking my sphere even more, it's just me and my loved ones now.

Also: There was a Canadian bear, The poor thing completely lacked hair. With winters so cold, NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP Oh shit, Limerick Rolled.

Don't get me wrong, I fucking hate Austin's 300 days of summer. But mornings like this also remind me how much I fucking hate being cold. Why couldn't I just be happy living where it's 73 and sunny every day? Why did I have to leave that?

I usually bend over backwards to avoid confrontation. I hate the feeling of adrenaline and the fear that I'm making things worse. I've been confronted entirely too much this week. I'm running out of fucks, and it's kind of liberating. Consequences might suck though. Gonna have to wait and see.

Hahaha nevermind, irritability is a side effect of Topamax. Guess I just have to actively try to be more chill.

Me: "I don't get mad easily, I am a very calm and level headed person." Also me: *Regularly* loses his temper in team meetings with that one guy who's always condescending and disrespectful.

I probably had a lot to do this weekend. I did not do it, I played a stupid video game for hours on end. I didn't do it last weekend. Drove to and from my newly dead grandma's apartment instead. Probably won't do it next weekend either. Maybe I don't have a lot to do after all.
