New Episode - Link in Bio! (Thanks for sharing!) For this show I’m joined by legendary Rock ‘n Roll photographer Robert M. Knight to chat about a few of his shots, and the stories behind them. Wherever you get podcasts, in video or audio only, and on YouTube. behindtheshot.tv/2026/08/13/p...

Stripping creators of their life’s content is what meta is doing as it takes advantage that most cannot afford to fight it legally. They drew us all into their house and now plan to strip us and kick us out with nothing, while they keep it all. The others are on standby to do the same.

It’s just so appalling and enraging how casual and commonplace this has become. I’m out of words.

I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.

Correction, we're now at 500 apps! Also you can filter and search by category:

Over 400 iPhone Duo apps are now linked on my webpage here and I'd added some features: - Apps I recommend at the top - Search app by name - Sort by date added or alphabetical! See it here: beardfm.app/duo-apps

Very odd that Apple Shortcuts has an Automation trigger for “Display Open or Closed” but not a regular action. I mean, clearly it can tell if it’s opened or closed, so let me use that in a shortcut please.

One more variation on the Duo "When Opened" automation: Get Current Focus and open an app of your choice! If "Weekend" open "Books" etc

I use the Dark Noise Background Sound when sleeping, but can’t trigger it with the Action Button on the Duo, which has no Action Button. Instead, I wrote a shortcut to trigger DND and the sound ON when the phone is put on my charger in Standby Mode, and OFF when I remove it. @stephenrobles.com

If still debating whether Donald Trump or Elon Musk willfully crippled Ukraine's missile defense, helping to slay innocent civilians, you are a rube. If the U.S. President had no role, then an oligarch governs national security. If not, the U.S. President serves Russia. Both answers are mortifying.

Following up up this thread, this video from @stephenrobles.com is the closest to my experience. Is it for everyone, no, but most of the reviews out there are over hyping the “issues”.

Steve Brazill@stevebrazill.com

Most of the “iPhone Duo After 24 hrs” videos mention the hyped issues, like non-optimized apps, bad cameras, the front screen being too small, the weight, and more. I even heard one YouTuber say “all the apps are are bad”. Nope. After 48 hrs myself… most of those are way overblown. 1/?

I honestly thought that not having face ID would be a huge issue, but it really hasn’t been. This touch ID is scary fast. And if you enable unlocking with your Apple Watch it unlocks extremely quickly, almost feeling like Face ID.

Does that mean it’s not an issue at all? No. At night, while watching TV, I’m not wearing my watch, and I’m not in the habit of going to touch ID. That does throw off the timing, but I’m sure I’ll get used to that overtime. Overall, I’m enjoying the phone a great deal.

A few of the reviews complained that the outside screen was simply too small, and that you could only see a few lines of a text read while you were typing a new text. I don’t find it too small at all. Is it an adjustment coming from the bigger phone? Of course.

Does the size of the outside screen make you want to open the phone, as some reviewers said? Yup. But it is totally usable. I do miss the action button, but I’ve simply replaced it with a shortcut that I call out by command to Siri.

it’s a very minor thing. The flashlight is noticeably not as bright as the 17 Pro Max, and the beam is not adjustable in the same ways. You can pull up/down on the beam to make it brighter or not, but you cannot go left/right to widen or narrow the beam. That is something I used all the time.

As for the weight, yes, it is definitely heavier than an iPhone 17 Pro Max. Heavy enough that it’s noticeable. But the people that are really complaining about it have me wondering if they have small hands. I have not found the weight to be an issue at all. Do I notice it in my pocket more? Sure.

If the camera is at the bottom, the volume knobs, and touch ID are under your hands. If you put the volume knobs and touch ID at the top, then they are at the opposite corner of the phone than when you’re holding it closed. Plus, now the outside screen is under all of your fingers at once.

All of this makes it difficult, if you’re rotating the phone, to know where the buttons are, which one is volume up versus volume down, and where the touch ID button is. And it just feels weird holding it by the outside screen. Something I found tonight really bothered me, even though…

Real world points for me: Many apps have been updated specifically for the Duo, and they are mostly good. Yes, some apps that are not optimized for the Duo, but were updated for iOS 27. Those are fine for now. And of course some apps suck, and are maximized old ratio apps. This isn’t new.

When the iPad came out we had a ton of apps we had to hit the 2x button on. Devs adopted over time, and they will here too. Orientation is an issue. When holding it open in portrait orientation you either have the camera bump at the bottom, like a handle, or the outside screen at the bottom.

One feature I loved that is missing from the iPhone Duo is the ability to change the width of the flashlight beam. You can still modify brightness, by sliding up / down, but you can’t slide left / right to change from wide to spot. @snell.zone @leolaporte.me

Now I’m dying to read your reply, if you posted one.

To be clear, yes, the Titanic changing course made it worse. Then again, the government isn’t a large ocean-floating vessel - although these people are trying to sink it anyway.
