Please read if you care about national defense. It's not enough to say we support the troops and then give morons leadership positions in questions of war and peace.
Pete Hegseth has failed in every mission except one: keeping his job. But firing or forcing out everyone else in the Pentagon will not make Pete Hegseth into the secretary of defense America and its men and women in uniform need. Me on Driscoll's resignation: www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Active-duty military should not have to worry about family members being deported, especially while serving in a time of war. The Trump administration's attacks on our military members goes against everything we stand for, and is something that all Americans should oppose. ICE is out of control.

The bit that seems missing to me in all this coverage is the switch from Gold Plated AirForce 1 from Qatar to the Original. Happy to sacrifice the press, a few cabinet secretaries the original AirForce 1, but not the gold plated plane with chandeliers www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/...

Hard to read this analysis on the Trump effect on US global leadership and long-term security - MAGA indeed. How China Won the Iran War open.substack.com/pub/paulkrug...
Perfect, we have "perimeters of a deal" which I guess we can interpret as we don't have "parameters of a deal" merely an outline that circles the items we would hope Iran might agree to. The Tangerine Toddler mind is mush.
Follow-up: Iran just called BS and said Trump lied again. They reaffirmed once again that ships can only cross the Strait via IRGC-approved route with permission. Same old story, different day.
One of the many acts of treason by the Trump administration that will take years to repair www.theatlantic.com/national-sec...

With so many horrors coming from Trump 2.0, a little thing like destroying USAID (resulting in 700K excess deaths and counting) gets lost in the noise
Just listen to this short post by @jamellebouie.net on the destruction of #USAID by #ElonMusk. Hundreds of thousands have died, millions-mostly black & brown people-more will die due to the white supremacist vision of this man. Bouie says it so directly, so clearly. www.instagram.com/reel/DXfJWyF...

Trump, admitted the test with 'a tiger, an elephant, a giraffe’ was 'very hard,' - no chance he was going to get the math question right
RFK Jr: "A Democratic senator claimed it's mathematically impossible to have a drug drop by 600%. I said, 'Well, if the drug was $100 and it raises to $600, that would be a 600% rise. If it drops from $600 to $100, that's a 600% savings.'" Trump: "Right"

You know what would be amazing, if Vance can negotiate an agreement where Iran doesn't enrich above 3.67% (far below weapons grade); gets rid of 98% of its stockpile of uranium; has weekly inspections by the IAEA; and commits to all of this for at 10 years. Oh, yeah, that was the Obama Iran deal.

Don't think I've ever been as terrified in all the Trump security crises. As @pkrugman.bsky.social said, "It’s the most astonishing, awful thing that I’ve ever seen, and we’ve all seen a lot of awful things." Mainly as cope, and to teach it, I keep asking why. 1/ open.substack.com/pub/paulkrug...
