11 August 1942 | A Hungarian Jewish girl, Eszter Abraham, was born. In May 1944 she was a deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.

11 August 1942 | A transport of 559 Jews deported from #Westerbork in the German-occupied Netherlands arrived at Auschwitz. After the arrival selection, 164 men & 131 women were registered. The remaining 264 people were killed in a gas chamber, incl. a 2-year old Magdalena Dora Blau.

11 August 1905 | A Pole, Ludwik Mroczek, was born in Kęty. A Catholic priest, a Salesian of Don Bosco (SDB). In #Auschwitz from 26 June 1941. No 17340 He perished in the camp on 5 January 1942.

11 August 1909 | A Czech Jewish woman, Anna Beerová, was born. An architect. She was deported to #Auschwitz from #Theresienstadt Ghetto on 16 October 1944. She left the camp in the Death March. She perished in Bergen-Belsen in April 1945.

11 August 1928 | Dutch Jewish girl Ariette Wilk was born in The Hague. In December 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz. After the selection she was murdered in a gas chamber.

10 August 1903 | A Czech Jewish woman, Růžena Schneiderová, was born in Prague. She was deported to #Auschwitz from #Theresienstadt Ghetto on 19 October 1944. She did not survive.

10 August 1913 | A Frenchwoman Charlotte Delbo was born in Vigneux-sur-Seine. A writer & resistance fighter. In #Auschwitz from 27 Jan 1943. No. 31661 Transferred to Ravensbrück in Jan 1944, freed thanks to a Red Cross action. Author of a trilogy „Auschwitz and after."

10 August 1929 | Belgian Jewish girl Mariette Peretz was born in Antwerp. In April 1943 she was deported to #Auschwitz from Kazerne Dossin in Mechelen. She did not survive.

9 August 1910 | A Hungarian Jewish woman, Francesca Molnár, was born. In June 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

10 August 1930 | A French Jewish boy, Willy Bajroch, was born in Paris. In August 1942 he was deported from Drancy to #Auschwitz. After the selection he was murdered in a gas chamber.

10 August 1918 | A Greek Jew, Avraam Tevet, was born in Thessaloniki. He was deported to #Auschwitz. He did not survive.

10 August 1885 | German Jew, Chaim Kraus, was born in Pommerensdorf (today Pomorzany, part of Szczecin in Poland). He emigrated to Belgium. He was deported to #Auschwitz from Kazerne Dossin in Mechelen on 15 January 1943. He was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

9 August 1885 | Jewish woman, Ida Oster (nee Tarschys) was born in Vilnius (then Imperial Russia, today Lithuania). In 1915 she moved to Norway. She arrived at #Auschwitz on 1 December 1942 and was murdered in a gas chamber after the arrival selection.

6 August 1900 | An Italian Jewish woman, Anna Ventura, was born in Rome. She was deported to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

6 August 1931 | A Czech Jewish girl Eva Redischova was born in Prague. She was a daughter of Arnost & Elsa. On 12 September 1942 she was transferred to Theresienstadt Ghetto. On 23 October 1944 Eva was murdered in a gas chamber at #Auschwitz II-Birkenau. She was 13 years old.

2/3 August 1944 | The Germans liquidated the so-called Gypsy camp (Zigeunerlager - sector BIIe) of Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Some 4,300 children, women and men - the last Roma prisoners of the sector - were loaded onto trucks and driven to the gas chambers.

Another weekend, another community shattered by a gunman armed with an assault-style rifle — this time in Twin Falls, Idaho at an In-N-Out Burger, where three people were killed and seven others were wounded.

3 August 1902 | German Jewish woman Regina Jonas was born in Berlin. In 1935 she became the 1st woman ordained as a rabbi by the liberal rabbi Max Dienemann. Arrested in Nov 1942 she was deported to Theresienstadt & in mid-October 1944 deported to #Auschwitz where she perished.

2 August 1943 | 1,000 Jews arrived at Auschwitz from Drancy in German-occupied France. After the selection 218 men & 55 women were registered as prisoners. The remaining 727 people were murdered in gas chambers. Françoise Sukno was among them. She was almost 3 months old.

2 August 1936 | An Italian Jewish boy, Guido Foa, was born in Turin. He was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.

2 August 1938 | A Dutch Jewish girl, Jeannette Groenteman, (in the middle) was born in Amsterdam. In 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz with her mother Lena and siblings Anne & John. All were probably murdered together in a gas chamber.

2 July 1892 | Jewish man Joseph Schechter, was born in Kropyvnytskyi (today Ukraine). A violinist. In Norway from 1919. First violinist of Bergen Symphony Orchestra. He arrived at #Auschwitz on 1 December 1942 and was registered in the camp. He perished there the next month.
