I think many Linux users don't understand that much of what they love about Linux is exactly what Muggles hate about it. The fact that there are 10,000 distros is a plus for some of us, but a major barrier for many. There's one current Windows, one current macOS. Makes the choice easy.

I'm house-sitting for about 2 weeks. I'm going to sample and rate all the chicken sandwiches I can manage. 1 rule: no Chil-Fil-A because fuck homophobic chicken. I had a late-night Wendy's chicken sandwich on the way here the other night. 2.5/5. It was fine.

The #Linux feed on Bluesky is 45% people proclaiming that Windows is garbage that Linux is way easier to run, and 45% people proclaiming that Linux is too confusing for anyone but lifeless super nerds and they're going back to Windows.

Folks like to post about what they're doing with Linux, so here's mine. After running Ubuntu for a year, I switched to CachyOS with niri and DankLinux. Mostly because Cashy is supposed to work great with niri. I ran niri/Dank on Ubuntu for a few days and loved it, so now I'm all in.

In solidarity with today's ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA blackout, MinnMax is donating $1 to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota for every share of this Bluesky post for the next hour.

Rob Reiner had one of the greatest 10-year runs of any director, ever. He directed one of the most beloved movies of all time, one of my favorites, a near-perfect movie. All while being a kind and thoughtful human, by all accounts I've heard. Hats off, Meathead.

Charlie Kirk was a shitty person who made the world a shittier place. His murder is unconscionable, regardless of who is responsible. Trump now has more excuse to increase violence against American citizens. Kirk will continue to make the world a shittier place even in death.

I'm deleting Amazon, Google, and Meta from my life as much as I can because fuck billionaire Nazis. Google is hard. I've replaced Chrome with Brave. Google Maps with Magic Earth. I'm testing Fastmail with my own domain to replace the Gmail account I've had for 21 years. Lots more to do.

You are up to date.
