Screamed myself awake last night, but you would too if you had to play dead to evade home invaders and rescue your simultaneously-twins-yet-one-single-baby and make beef stroganoff at the same time.

Trying to get into the Halloween spirit so I’m watching a childhood favorite: Casper Meets Wendy. I went through a phase when I was a kid where I dressed in all blue with matching bucket hat because Wendy dressed in all red and I wanted to be a witch, too.

A lot of people have a hard time understanding that just because something is well-intentioned doesn’t mean it can’t have consequences, whether those are negative consequences or just unforeseen consequences. Every drop has ripples.

Had a dream last night I befriended a tawny owl named Derrick who flew through a pickup truck window while I was driving. He perched on my shoulder and would nuzzle like a cat. He ate my gummy worms.

Geese should be both feared and respected, much like a gym teacher or fire.

Life isn’t always so bad. Sometimes a friend does something really kind for you and then instagram introduces you to a cool new goth band.

I hate living this way. I hate begging. I hate being poor. I hate being homeless. I hate being sick all the time. I hate living in fear. It’s too much.

My bout of homelessness has basically been its own form of exposure therapy for my lifelong fear of inconveniencing others.

Ex-stepdad was texting Mom asking “what she’d do for him” if he were to give her money and help us out, knowing damn well we’re struggling. I’ve never met such a evil, vile little prick in all my life.

“I said I liked it, I didn’t say it was good.” I love low budget 2000s straight to dvd horror with my whole heart. 5ive Girls is probably one of my favorites. It’s got everything: possession, witches, superpowers, adorable lesbians, Ron Perlman, Catholics, a nonsense plot. 5 stars.

A friend of mine was kind enough to help us out with $50 digital visas. But, for some reason, they confuse the hotel staff and now there’s $100 in room rent floating out in the cybervoid and I don’t know if we can get it back.🙃

The new Carrie show is out. I loved the book so much. I always loved how much of it is inspired by Charles Fort, but hate how those details have been remembered as pure Kingisms.

One thing that I find interesting about homeless is how much I miss my old oven. I miss baking. I miss making key lime pie. I used to make it so much I have the recipe memorized.

Most people’s bucket lists are places like Paris or Tokyo, mine are Halifax, Anchorage, and Galena, Illinois.

Living in a constant state of emergency cannot be good for me. 🤔

There’s an instagram of these guys who remake men’s American collegiate wear from 1910 - 1940s and I’m obsessed with it. This type of twee hyper-fixation is the best part of the internet.

I had a dream the other night I started a gay mens lifestyle magazine and interviewed Danny Pintauro. If I had any functional skills, I’d probably do it for real.

I am self aware enough to know that I can be prone to bouts of near pathological nostalgia, but I genuinely do miss my old Razor scooter.

Because of the flooding this year, almost all of Indiana’s pumpkin crop has been destroyed. The third largest producer in the country. This is genuinely heartbreaking.

Had to do telehealth for bronchitis and sinus infection. 🤧

Everything is an ad now. Pinterest is 70% ads. I can’t watch a YouTube or instagram video without some pop up telling me to buy capri pants or a carburetor. People used to make crafting videos. People used to share recipes and art. This is a digital war on beauty and humanness.

I really love the band After. Discovered them on instagram last year. They sound like Y2K optimism. I need that. Just the audio equivalent of a post-rain ride on a Razor scooter.

Don’t waste your money on cheap plastic Halloween decorations this year, instead get some chicken wire and papier-mache and make something upsetting and grotesque like our ancestors intended.
