Six years ago, I set myself the goal to of launching a game on Apple Arcade. It took a few attempts, but yesterday it finally worked out with the launch of Art of Fauna: Cozy Puzzles+ 🦆 If you have Apple Arcade, go check it out! www.youtube.com/shorts/3y5nG...

My latest interview with Apple just went live! 🦾 Read it on the Developer Website and in the Developer app! 🥳 Link: developer.apple.com/news/?id=dgm...

Story Time! In 2019, a blind gamer called Casey posted on Twitter that there were very few great games she could play on the school bus as a blind person. I saw that tweet and sent her a code for my game Subwords via DM. I just hoped she might enjoy my little word puzzler.

During the award ceremony, she told this story as part of her laudation and announced that my latest game, Art of Fauna, had won the award for Best Mobile Game.

I can't put into words how happy this story makes me. It shows that kindness is more important than anything else. And this is exactly why I love making my games and apps. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Casey, for sharing this story.

What I didn’t know was that, from that point on, Casey followed my games. Why? Because when playing Subwords, she never felt like she was using a custom solution or a lesser game. Instead, it felt like she could just play the same game as everyone else.

And that feeling of inclusion was incredibly important to her, especially during school and university. How did I hear this story? I heard it today from Casey. She is part of the jury for the “Gaming ohne Grenzen” accessibility award.

20.000 ratings for Art of Fauna, still 4.9 out of 5 🦆 ——— I feared that charging for volume 2 would lead to a flood of 1-star reviews. But seems like explaining the move honestly to the user could prevent that 🥰

Story time about the emotional rollercoaster called the Apple Design Awards! 🏆 Exactly one year ago, I was in Italy when I got a call from my Apple Partnership Manager. They told me:

And now, 10 years later, right before this person was about to retire - They told me that I have really won the *real thing*. You always dream about things like this to happen, but its insane when they really do.

And as we were in Italy, me and my now fiancé sat down to celebrate with a drink. And this is how this picture happened. Thanks for reading 🫶

Story time about the emotional rollercoaster called the Apple Design Awards! 🏆 Exactly one year ago, I was in Italy when I got a call from my Apple Partnership Manager. They told me:

And I can't even find words to describe how that felt. Two nominations, one win for Art of Fauna. And to understand this fully, you have to know more context.

In 2015, I won the student Apple Design Award with Elementary Minute. But the student ADA was never held to the same standards as the regular one. But back then, this same Apple Partnership Manager told me "One day, you are going to win the real thing".

Story time about the emotional rollercoaster called the Apple Design Awards! 🏆 Exactly one year ago, I was in Italy when I got a call from my Apple Partnership Manager. They told me:

And Art of Fauna was objectively my best shot yet. I felt like if this is not going to win an ADA, nothing out of my feather ever will. So for then next 10 minutes, I was more disappointed than I probably should have been.

And then I got a second call. Again, it was my Apple Partnership Manager. And they said: "I was wrong there with the category. You are not a finalist in Inclusivity. You are a finalist in Social Impact". And then they paused. "But you've won in Inclusivity".

Story time about the emotional rollercoaster called the Apple Design Awards! 🏆 Exactly one year ago, I was in Italy when I got a call from my Apple Partnership Manager. They told me:

"You know the drill. Art of Fauna is a finalist for the Apple Design Award in Inclusivity. But unfortunately again, it did NOT WIN."

When they hung up, I was left excited, but also disappointed. I knew the drill because it was actually my third time being a finalist in Inclusivity. I was one in 2022 and 2023 with my games "Letter Rooms" and "Ancient Board Game Collection" respectively.
