Good God sometimes people are right about Bluesky and "the left"™ the moment a stupid doomed to fail hyper pacifist motion comes out from membership people go "Woah woah if that even gets to conference I'm out and I'll join the moderate "maybe in 200 years if they don't kill us well progress" caucus

Looks like some of the Republican women are becoming sentient... And sure the plastic surgery is part of it... Wait until she reads "The Stepford Wives" or hears who besides the GoP was also fan of the Aryan aesthetic... Actually a fan of a lot of the same things as the Republicans to be fair.

theguardian.comAndy Burnham faces climate revolt after approval of North Sea gas drillingJackdaw gasfield announcement signals UK’s commitment to North Sea industry but undermines green credentials

Well this is going to be the yo-yo every single time. The Greens will take some poor optics principled stance on something, the right wing will have a field day, polls will show "there's space for Labour to abandon more left wing ideas move move move"! Repeat until Mandleson is back in No 10.

Ah so this is the way the democrats are going to lose this time. A classic to be fair Kyrsten Sinema and Manchin were a great one-two punch. Obviously they've got "Totally unbought by Israel" John Fetterman in their "Oh noooo looks like we can't have nice things DAMN THE LEFT!" arsenal.

Hmmm funny that.

Important summary of Neoliberalism. For people to share because it's obvious to those who already know all the points it can become frustrating when people come in with the "No other option" idea.

@darrenpjones.bsky.social the King of Hindsight of "Actually we didn't fund any of that so cancelling it is meaningless" fame comes out again on a "Well I would have- x" well after it has any meaningful weight... comes out with the controversial "Mandelson bad 2026" youtu.be/CDnoQGWs-YM?...

I mean I wasn't even political back when David Cameron and George Osbourne started their murderous campaign against the real economy by going "There's no money left Labour left a note" and even I knew that's complete bullshit. Fiat economics is cyclical and controlled it is a speculation.

They could have pulled this MAYBE around industrialisation because back then jobs were REAL and based on MATERIAL movement but since financialization that is NOT how it works. But of course they know that.... Grr I need to calm down they're out! Gone! They can't continue their feigned ignorance.

youtu.beDarren Jones: I Almost Quit Keir Starmer's Cabinet Over Lord Mandelson ScandalYouTube video by Zeteo

Also his "plausible deniability" stuff was always unfortunate because he often ended up on TV with Owen Jones or Ash Sarkar saying "So they're going to say x y z but we know that already and it's just solvable by a or b either choice we already know" then later that week "Insert David Cameron line"

Like when we all knew about the "20 Billion Black Hole" at the time of the release of the manifestos and pointed out it could be closed by a wealth tax, equalising capital gains so working people aren't paying more than those who OWN shit. Then like clockwork "Oh the 20Bn and there's no money left"

youtu.beDarren Jones: I Almost Quit Keir Starmer's Cabinet Over Lord Mandelson ScandalYouTube video by Zeteo

Sorry no amount of "Oh I'm correct now look" works for the Starmer defenders. I remember my "Oh wait he's pushing them" in chambers stuff only to be absolutely undone by media rounds "Oh no Corbyn's the bad guy austerity is sensible" expectation management shit that almost handed Reform everything

This is good to hear :)

It also usually fully underestimates how HORRIFICALLY THINK some people are and proudly stay mainly because structurally people that stupid stay that way because they have victim complexes when anyone questions details when they "Question everything". These 2 groups can't socialise for long.

So academics especially left wing ones tend to retain their innocence because they likely haven't seen many glassings or neighbours family members being reported for being a danger to the elderly etc. The scope of "Why?" is too big and so you give benefit of the doubt which is a bias. I ramble.

Leeds for Europe@leedseurope.bsky.social

I get all the academic reasoning but there's a big problem with academics in social non hard science fields... FREE WILL. Science is about pinning down the lowest number of variables that exist and finding CAUSAL links. Social academia... basically guessing with reasons.

Jesus man. Is this our faults? It it because anyone with ANY literacy has been so disgusted by the Iraq coverage and now the Gaza and Enoch Powell round 2 that they won't work for them? "Ah they caught one". Passive voice is INSANE!

I like this but it kinda of presupposes that the people you're being viscerally unpleasant to (in the case of my leanings literal supporters of child murderer and ethnosupremacy along ethnic lines) could be "onboarded of we were nice". I do up-play wins though and check how they changed if they do.

Starfire’s Deranged Neocon Foreign Policy Podcast@irhottakes.bsky.social

Okay, so I have a plan to get everyone on our side. First, we be absolutely as viscerally unpleasant as possible. Next, we downplay any time we get what we want, say it's the bare minimum and so forth. Finally, if anyone gives up and says we win or apologizes, we belittle them.

22 Sept

But for me the unpleasantness is a requirement. There is no position that I've adopted that I wouldn't adopt because "someone who said it first was too mean so I decided it wasn't right" my entire stance has always been "the left are annoying but almost always correct" it's about pushing past.

22 Sept

... I have hit on some extremes of virtue signalling that has no substance or policy behind it and sometimes they are annoying but again if they're annoying in the right direction I don't care.

21 Sept

Aaaah this is how they're going to fuck over any coalition they end up in again. Literal war! I'm no pacifist I believe Ukraine and Palestine should be supported but we are NOT at threat of war Europe would have to fall first. So this "Oooh they're at the gates" shit is pathetic.

The Daily Britain@thedailybritain.bsky.social

🚨 NEW: The Liberal Democrats are calling for a national register of civilian volunteers who could be mobilised if Britain came under attack. The party also wants a dedicated Secretary of State for civilian readiness, arguing the UK is not taking preparations for war seriously enough.

Is the Ed Sheeran tour thing over? Look I saw things about "it was the venue managers" to "Sheeran drinks Palestinian blood" levels... Macklemore had it right he, Pink and Sheeran are not the victims and shouldn't be the focus.

Probably in some venture capital meeting room when their children brought it up while they were planning the hotels to build on graves in Gaza. I don't believe from what I've seen Sheeran himself did the crap. Pink and the billionaires did, the Zionists did... If anyone has something concrete

To the contrary like "Ed Sheeran personally text Macklemore after and said BEGONE FOR ALL TIME I OPPOSE PALESTINE" Sure... But this drama happened with Tenacious D and I'm like... Some people just want to be entertainers not all art has to be moral.

I would have preferred he stuck with Free Palestine it seems he didn't and Pinks actual complaint was that he didn't... So it's not like he was faking his neutrality he didn't pull Macklemore as far as I know. As is usually the case higher up genocidal billionaires did.

I'm aware of the irony of posting this element generated by AI. I learned about Gartner's “Hype Cycle” in the process of making it so it is both and example and a reason for the post. For people who are apoplectic about AI... It's just tech, like the internet, like all these examples.

Big frustration of mine on BOTH sides (finally a STEM subject so being a centrist CAN be more objective and fact based) is that this is an emerging tech it will fall short of its promises because that's the nature of imagination! But snobbishly sniping at people who adopt it is ALWAYS bad.
