One for @markradcliffe.bsky.social & @stuartmaconie.bsky.social ... Colin Jeavons: the voice behind one of the finest interstitials on your #6Music extravaganzas #BarnabyTheBear

Toby Hadoke@tobyhadoke.bsky.social

Happy 97th birthday to that splendid actor Colin Jeavons. I was delighted to meet him just under a year ago (something I thought would never happen) and he was an absolute delight! So many terrific performances - Blue Remembered Hills, House of Cards, Kinvig, Sherlock Holmes, Blackeyes, etc etc

Been listening whilst tidying up some work this afternoon. Vaguely remember the original Alan Turing Prom but the reworking LP is an *incredible* piece of work, really stops you in your tracks. Outstanding radio via @stuartmaconie.bsky.social. Very highly recommended. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

I’ve just finished listening to a glorious celebration of J B Priestley by @stuartmaconie.bsky.social on 4 Extra. I stumbled across it, pure serendipity, I would never seek it out on an app. That’s how radio works and what a significant linear audience is going to lose.

The death of Radio 4 Extra is a very, very sad day. I am genuinely upset by this decison.

Thank you! Great night

MACCA GOES WEIRD! Join me on BBC 6Music’s The Freakzone Playlist at midnight, 6th August. I’ve selected plenty of Paul McCartney’s stranger things. Giddy for this to air. Reposts appreciated. Tune in, Paul! @reaktionbooks.bsky.social @stuartmaconie.bsky.social #6Music #PaulMcCartney

Sending my latest substack post to @stuartmaconie.bsky.social, who put together a fantastic prom last weekend, which features large in this round-up of six excellent concerts I had the privilege if attending over the last fortnight. markbraund.substack.com/p/in-praise-...

I know the Clacton poll is a serious matter (🙄)but I am becoming increasingly concerned about the inaccurate use of the “dogs dinner” idiom. It means ‘dressed up fancy’ not ‘ a mess’. That’s a dog’s breakfast.

Love this guys writing, but ‘fear not’ bit arch. Anyway the books great.

Nige Tassell@nigetassell.bsky.social

@stuartmaconie.bsky.social on the new book: Few bands exert the same mysterious allure as the Sprouts and at last comes the sustained critical and historical appraisal they merit. But if that sounds dry and costive, fear not. This is a book as playful, quirky and engaging as the band themselves.

Thank you doc! That’s exactly how I wanted people to listen. But whatever space you can find these next few evenings…it is good honest…listen again at @bbcsounds.bsky.social

This solstice Freak Zone session from @stuartmaconie.bsky.social is absolutely stunning. Sitting in the garden eating a bowl of cherries with swifts screeching overhead and all these beautiful sounds.

Bless you Jeff...shucks, it was a good show...and you could still have watched the only interesting moment in the football

We *could* watch Qatar Switzerland, however, the peerless @stuartmaconie.bsky.social is on funk and soul duties again tonight at six. You know what to do, kids. *frugs whilst preparing a curry*
