Good news. At last. But I think the West Yorkshire site the taxpayer will now have to clean up is on land owned by Charles III, from which he benefits financially. Time to put your hand in your pocket, Charlie boy. www.gov.uk/government/n...

And yet a whole political bye election campaign was run on the lie it would be bad for people. I'd like to think facts and evidence will always win through. I live in hope more than with optimism.

A bin gets 26% of the vote. #Farage doesn't even show a modicum of respect for the people of Clacton by turning up to the count. He has gone from a future Prime Minister to a laughing stock in one unnecessary by-election. On to the next one. #Clacton, you'll have to do it all again soon.

Reading the opening paragraph I was hopeful of a vision we could get behind. Strong european security, new global alliances, less reliant on the US. But all we got were platitudes and lists. Poor comms again. This is why the populist still control the narrative. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Sorry, @rory-stewart.bsky.social but while your hope for a new beginning for the #Tories was admirable, and I wish it were so, once again, your judgement as to where your former party is and your hopes for #ProsperUK seem to be way off. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Seems the #WaterWhitePaper is an exercise in allowing water companies to continue to pollute by removing fines when they break the law. The polluter pays principle is being disapplied and the victims (customers & the environment) will continue to pay. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

@therestpolitics.bsky.social Given the contents of the US National Security Strategy & Trump's comments in his Politico interview, calling European leaders weak while leaning into the great displacement theory. Isn't it time we started treating the US as the threat it is? Stuart TRIP+ member Reading

In Europe, a division is emerging: the south and south east grow drier, including parts of the UK. Meanwhile, the North and North East, including parts of the UK, are growing wetter: 2/6

Political leaders have turned away. Not only via this COP. I attended a regional fisheries meeting this year with the US refusing to approve any mention of climate. This week a council in the Midlands supported a school's climate conference but would not allow mention of CC.

Interesting to note that Paid won the Caerphilly bye election and Reform lost. So who is the @bbc Today Programme interviewing? Oh it's Reform. I see their love affair is not diminished.

I utterly condemn the killing of Charlie Kirk. But the way the hard right in the US & around the world have been quick to weaponise it, use it to double down on authoritarianism, culture wars & intolerance is scary. This marks another moment when democracy & enlightenment values slip from our grasp.

Big fine for Thames Water. OFWAT fine them over £136m, for them polluting our rivers & for continuing to give bonuses & dividends while they were in financial trouble. Still a company that prioritises great over care for the environment & customers. Time to call an end to Thames Water

Morgan M may have brought Labour back from the disaster of #Corbyn and may be an effective campaign organiser, I'll give him that. But governing is entirely different and he is proving to be useless at it. Doing Starmer huge damage in the process. If he stays this is a 1 term gov't.
