Having just watched some of the Burnham "Ladbible" interview (ban VAR, Oasis are great, etc) I am not sure whether I was more embarrassed for my Labour friends when Corbyn was leader or now

Look forward to going to whatever the equivalent event is next year as I can't be there this one

Peter Walker@peterwalker99.bsky.social

I’m at a fringe event for the Tory centrist/let’s-not-be-too-mad campaign Prosper UK. Introducing it, Ruth Davidson says its mission is, essentially, to get the party to talk more about the economy and less about culture wars.

The answer is "the migrants go to Gosport rather than Portsmouth, even though it's logistically idiotic, is because there are still 2 Labour MPs in Portsmouth and none in Gosport"

Haven't heard the words "independent football regulator" anywhere in the discussion about Man City. it's going to be left to opine about pie prices and achieve sod all else

As a cohort pensioners are "the rich" but the Greens operate on the level of "AOC wearing a dress with a slogan on it" politics

Zack Polanski@zackpolanski.bsky.social

Why is the Government going after pensioners? It's time to tax the rich

Not too worried about talk of an early election. Labour are writing the Opposition's campaign material. The pub no longer exists because Labour taxed it to death and your kids hope they earn enough to emigrate when they're older to escape Lucy Powell

Completely ridiculous spectacle of former Lab Chancellor and spouse of a Cabinet Minister giving Wes Streeting a softball interview on social care plans on ITV. No wonder people mistrust broadcasters

I'd have thought Green Party Councillors picketing MP offices calling for them to take a more antisemitic line might be a factor too.

Absolutely nothing is achieved by bringing migrants ashore at Blockhouse except for dumping the problem out of a constituency with a Labour MP into one with a Tory. It's logistically idiotic. Morgan must have "had a word" with his fellow Ministers

Israeli action of this kind is a great way to make British Conservatives who are generally sympathetic to Israel reevaluate their position on Israel's behaviour in the West Bank

Ed Miliband is set to give details of the UK’s trade ban on the settler economy as the Israeli security minister calls upon Binyamen Netanyahu to recognise the ‘Malvinas’

Amanda Martin complains about "politicking" around the scrapped Local Government Review. Most of it came from her! She is Labour's representative in Portsmouth, not Portsmouth's representative in Parliament

Everyone on this platform who's been bigging up Miriam Margoyles in recent years needs to donate some money to an anti-racism charity. I don't make the rules.

Well Corbyn was a Brexiteer too, but he's never been liberal. It's a very silly basis for making any argument in 2026. The real significance of the announcement is that, coupled with the expected removal of Patel, Badenoch has some room to manoeuvre in her reshuffle

Sarah Murphy@13sarahmurphy.bsky.social

The Overton window has dragged us all to a place where Cleverly is seen as the liberal side of the Tory party, when he was a hardline Brexiter and a Johnson-to-the-bitter-end-fan who enjoyed posting his many little ‘banning’ memes on immigration.

I worked in publishing and bookselling for a while 15 years ago and it was clear then that what mattered was a good story, true or not, who cares. See also the business of famous fiction authors whose work is now almost entirely ghostwritten

Janine Gibson@janinegibson.ft.com

ON the radio Alexandra Pringle, apparently the former editor in chief of Bloomsbury is asserting that of course memoirs aren't true stories and no publishers are not responsible for checking books. This well spoken lady is achieving tech bro level of don't be so naive it's not MY business

Reminds me of that great tweet which went something like “Americans check themselves into rehab for what the average Brit drinks on a two-hour train journey.”

This case actually acquired the weight it did because Arday and Cambridge tried to get Carter Ruck and the Police to shut down a legitimate journalist asking reasonable questions. Blaming the press is just dishonest.

This post is unavailable.

Even now the Left are trying to exploit the poor bloke. There should be a formal inquiry into how Cambridge has been run in recent years. That is the only fitting outcome of this whole mess.

More news emerges, which is that Morgan & Martin gathered an assembly of independents and got the Land Securities manager of Gunwharf in to lecture them, and someone from the City of Culture bid who couldn't tell them how they'd benefit. The CofC stuff is all vibes, no money at all

Stuart Crow@stucrow.bsky.social

News emerges from the recent Stephen Morgan/Amanda Martin "hospitaity sector" summit on the pier where Selfie Steve asked all the hard-pressed bar owners and restaurateurs "how are you enjoying your holidays?" Apparently that was as good as it got
