After a long summer and even longer fall I managed to get one good day of plein air painting! At the Grist Mill!!!!

Find me at Art on the Ave booth E205 in the Alexandria Plein Air Society booth!!!

Sometimes I remember to do two pieces at once when painting en plein air. The idea is that by working on two pieces at once, I can keep doing the fun part of painting, while also looking away from your art. It's important to step back and see you painting with fresh eyes.

From our visit to the National Mall.

A Moongate was put up in Green Spring & naturally I tried to activate the Stargate. It didn't work. I decided instead of painting what I saw with my eyes, I would paint what I saw with my soul. I saw a portal to somewhere new. A small tree behind it, but what if it was larger? What could this be?

It's important to show off the bad stuff. Social media is filled with the curated perfect bs, it's important to see the real stuff. The struggles, the experiments that didn't go. Also doesn't hurt to poison the ai trash. 😁 #art #badart #watercolor #experiment #artist

Another plein air recreation, "Crimson Drifter II." The original was done at the George Washington Sailing Marina in Virginia, Sept. of 2024.

Apparently it only took only 7 mins to sketch this little guy. The under painting had been done forever ago when I started my pastel practice pieces, so maybe 10 min max? Though I doubt I took 3 mins to do the under painting. #pastelpainting #art #landscapepainting #painting

FIRST POST!!! Newest painting "Midwinter Coastline." Based on the plein air piece from my sketchbook. This is Mason Neck State Park, in Virginia, Feb. 2024. #pleinair #watercolor #landscape #art
