Say hello to the next iteration of Tartarus. Slightly smaller design that does away with the QR code reader in favor of BLE configuration. Also introduces the Secure Element to basically close all the remaining loop holes Very Clever(tm) boys can use to escape.

I will likely make a run of these and sell them to get a bunch out there. I will likely start selling kits as well as the assembled lock. Also sets of 3D printed parts if you want to assemble it yourself.

Ok, the first of the major changes are up. The release notes for 1.1.1 are at docs.subjugated.club/release_notes/ The web front end (thanks to web serial and some stabilized APIs) can now update the lock directly at tartarus.subjugated.club/updater . It should be seamless if you have the lock now.

You should be able to get away with App only, but "Full image" should also be safe. That being said, ideally do this if you ARE NOT under a contract 😇😇😇. You'll need a real laptop or an android phone for this most likely. Web serial and web BLE are.... spotty on mobile. After a day or two and

making sure everything works I'll add the signed release if you want an extra durable layer of protection. Especially if you're a software person and want the experience more thoroughly locked down.

Hey Tartarus users, I'm going to be introducing some breaking changes today/this week to address some long-term things I've wanted to adjust. There's going to be a new firmware update available too 😇😎- shinier UI, emergency unlock on the device, and a lot of general purpose cleanup.

It should NOT disrupt current contracts regardless. There will be some downstream updates that bots might need though to handle the new emergency unlock case.

If you’re into video games and want a brutal 2D souls-like with tons of parrying you should absolutely play Nine Sols. Fucking loved it. Mostly. While I wasn’t swearing.

Am I going to develop another iteration of the Tartarus lock? Yeah probably 🤣 based on a year of using it, feedback from others, etc I can see a list of things I’d love to improve. I’m not saying it’s the best lock out there… but it’s probably the most sophisticated and def my fave 😎😎

Big one: going back to custom hardware. Being able to assemble it from the off the shelf, orderable hardware was good, but it gave up some control. I want to add a secure element to design it the way I want it work and that doesn't work with off the shelf. Still DIY but with an orderable board.

Code signing. This one already works but I'm going to offer it for people (mostly software folks) that want something more... oppressive. After this you won't be able to load unsigned firmware on the lock. If you give your key up, you _really_ give it up. And a bunch of other stuff as I think of it

Here's a set of thoughts in mind. Some of these are already done. Local emergency unlock: pretty easy. But as a nice safety touch you can just emergency unlock it. Of course the contract holder will know though. Cleaner login flow Bluetooth + serial connectivity. Fuck that QR code reader.

Making some updates to Tartarus. One of the biggest changes I'd make in the next version is removing the QR code reader for something like an sd card slot or just assume you need a USB connection for some things. That thing has been nothing but a PITA 🤣

Made it to level 44. A little more gray in the beard but they weren’t kidding- your 40s are great.

The last 8-12 weeks have been a fun experiment with subclub but it’s clear there’s basically zero appetite for a kink focused app/site anymore. Even among early adopters there’s a sharp drop-off. Most people (64%) never made a profile even if they signed up. I’m not pulling the plug on it though.

For clarification: I’m talking about the users. I’m aware of how shitty all the companies are but getting anything more than a dick pic or a “hi” has become Exceptional. Maybe that’s a direct result of the platform but if so there’s a massive group hiding *somewhere*.
