Sunlight Altar - abyssal folk

We have just a few limited tapes left from @fiadh.bsky.social! Get some ghostly folk this Bandcamp Friday: sunlightaltar.bandcamp.com/album/twilig...

Thank you to everyone who picked up a tape. More available soon, stay tuned! And give us a listen if you're into the idea of abyssal folk that stands for the living world and against fascism and capitalist destruction.

Our Twilight Altar tapes are sold out! THANK YOU to everyone who picked one up or got a digital release. We're asking the wonderful folks at @fiadh.bsky.social for a new batch, so stay tuned for that! sunlightaltar.bandcamp.com/album/twilig... #abyssal #folk #antifascism

Playing the global Antifascist Black Metal Gathering in Bern tonight. Such a great night, and a most excellent venue. Here is the Lego version along with the real one.

Much appreciated @florgoth.bsky.social ❤️

Much appreciated @florgoth.bsky.social! We're pretty far along with a new record, excited about that.

Starting a list of Bluesky metal bands (and punk, experimental, dark folk etc) in a general space of antifascist, anticapitalist, anti-discriminatory politics. Limiting this to bands + a few labels; can make another one on people who write/talk music. LMK if you want to be here: go.bsky.app/GdHuRAf

AHHH FINALLY we can tell you about one of the coolest projects we've ever done. @jflamman.bsky.social & Hakkende Manne have made a crushing and epic 90s hardcore/gabber remix of The Shadows of Prefiguration, and will be JOINING us at @lowlands-fest.bsky.social. It's going to be wild.

Reminder that this crazy wild thing is happening. A testament to the power of the Dutch underground and our friends abroad. LET'S FUCKING GO.

Slowly finding our way to people with @sunlightaltar.bsky.social makes me very happy, and this is so cool: finding a home among others in the doomier folk space.

This is a really great show, lots of juicy dark and doomy folk to discover and @cinderwellmusic.bsky.social's interview and new album are great.

Like I'm interested in the crossover between games x sacredness/mystery and perhaps games x doom/black metal energy is a nice concrete example of this, more tangible and raw, more relatable.

Thought: if games can be truly metal as fuck, and especially in styles like black metal or doom metal, it allows them to escape the 'this is a fun entertainment product' aesthetic to some degree and become something else, something more resonant.

I think Eden at @aftermath.site is telling me I should play this game. aftermath.site/saros-doom-m...

V by Brooklyn-based ambient artist Bell-Ringer centers on communing with nature, especially trees, & how we often imagine the natural world as something dangerous to be feared. We cannot help but see faces in the wood: signs, omens, reflections of our inner turmoil.

don’t talk to me or my son ever again

Spending the night monomaniacally obsessed by this track by Bjork and the Dirty Projectors. Such a good vibe. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfLX...

I'm in my hippie-dippie phase so I made a song about nature and shit...

My tribute to Quake, BLACK BLOOD + BILE is coming 6/22 for the 30th anniversary of the game and the Nine Inch Nails soundtrack that accompanied it.

The Juno thanks you for all the love and engagement it's been getting... Check out my music you fucks! share.google/GUu1cvAuBv4c...

Twlight Altar can be found with @fiadh.bsky.social, here, and on streaming platforms: sunlightaltar.bandcamp.com/album/twilig...

'A remarkable collaboration between Vervoort and Jayant Makham, it turns out. No blast beats or screams, but rather songs that shine in atmosphere and fragility. Vervoort steps outside his comfort zone here by singing clean.'

Really cool review of our EP by Nevermind The Hype. Very cool to feel like people really hear your music.

Cradle of Filth

Everyone in Terzij de Horde is going to see 16 Horsepower live in different venues in NL next week. It's a whole thing.

Painting a sobbing gnome crushed by the destruction of his ecosystem today. For reasons that will become clear shortly!

Fucking amazing.

“I do not know where it will lead you, but I know it no longer belongs to me. It is yours now — for your nights, your dreams." Mörkret viskar mitt namn, released last year through the wonderful Ancient King Records, is a brooding, magical journey from ambient/fantasy synth project Svampprinsen.

We've had Gandalf for 3 years today! And in honour of the occasion, he has a special message for everyone:

In the Netherlands we're finding that more and more bands are outspoken in their defense and support of queer people in the scene, and that's part of the way. Start new bands, crowd out and shut out the hateful and bigoted elements, create a new reality together.

It's IDAHOBIT, and want to express all our love for and give strength to people suffering in an increasingly queerphobic world. Obviously this struggle is very much alive in metal, and especially in black metal. If you make black metal unwelcome or unsafe for queer people, fuck off.

Not your usual black metal show.

The last time we saw black metal at Lowlands was in the year 2000 when Abbath was playing in the midday sun screaming THE FUCKING SUN IS KILLING ME!! CAN YOU SAY FUCK THE SUN!!!

Guess who's been announced to play mfing LOWLANDS @lowlands-fest.bsky.social today!

After many years of overwhelming 190 BPM torrents of fury with @terzijdehorde.bsky.social, to sing quietly and from a place of vulnerability, tapping into a kind of aloneness, has been quite a trip. And I've honestly been more hesitant to share it as a result. Trying to get over that.

Friends, as you'll have seen, I recently released a debut EP for a dark/experimental folk project @sunlightaltar.bsky.social with my long time friend Jayant Makhan. I have little experience finding reviewers in this style. Would love to get suggestions. sunlightaltar.bandcamp.com/album/twilig...

Really enjoyed the EP, can't wait to see what they come up with next...

Our first EP is just out but we are already quite far with the next project. Working on this music is really a vibe. Lots to explore, curious to see where it will take us. Still enjoying the photos we took in the late winter darkness with Lisanne Lentink.
