Organizing a worker-led solidarity union comes with the same legal protection as any other type of union, the law makes no distinction Successful unionism of course relies on coworker solidarity and a viable overall strategy, not legal filings. But still important to know legal landscape

The work of the CNT labor union and associated organizations like Mujeres Libres to operate large swaths of the Spanish economy, fight fascism, and overturn patriarchy is and will always be one of the great reference points for solidarity unionism

P.S. Fletcher spent the latter years of his life in New York City, in Brooklyn. He, one of the all time great leaders in revolutionary and labor history, is buried in an unmarked grave. A long effort is in motion to change that, and progress is being made on that front.

SUN x BBIU ❤️‍🔥 Fed up workers, shop floor fighters, anti-imperialists, trans liberation comrades in Boston, come through May 23

Happy publication day, let's go! We believe that coworkers have the wisdom and power to figure out and overcome problems in workplaces, in industries and in economies. That's why we're proud to be a launch partner for Unions of Our Own.

Unions of Our Own is out today and arriving in the hands of courageous workers 🥹 My goal for the book is growing the community of working people who build unions that meet their needs as they define them and that advance their vision of the world. Get yours: www.haymarketbooks.org/books/2724-u...

Care is central to the kind of unionism we practice In how we show up as coworkers with each other and in what it is like to participate in SUN. As well as is in the workplace, industry, and society-wide changes we seek.

Solidarity unionism lineage, highest respect Fletcher and Local 8's interweaving of class struggle and Black liberation was very on point and would not be out of place in today's cutting edge thinking on the topic in places like @hammerandhope.bsky.social

Working Class History @workingclasshistory.com

#OtD 13 Apr 1890 Black Philadelphia docker and @IWW member, Ben Fletcher, was born. Joining the IWW in 1913, he organised a multiracial union on the Philadelphia docks when many unions were still segregated. Learn more in our podcast: workingclasshistory.com/podcast/e73-...

There's no such thing as an unorganizable industry. Only ones where workers are still figuring out a model that works. Solidarity with these courageous workers.

Staff at famed New York cocktail bar Attaboy are forming an independent union in a notoriously hard-to-organize industry.

SUN stands in solidarity with the survivors of Cesar Chavez’s sexual abuse. Abuse like this requires the actions of the predator but also surrounding institutions and structures. We must strive for a labor movement in which abuse of any kind is not tolerated and that requires a full reckoning.
