While I think it’s generally agreed upon that police siren samples in music can be triggering, there must be other Shopify merchants that hear tunes with a cash register sample (looking at M.I.A., Tame Impala, Pink Floyd) and get an instant dopamine hit then to be disappointed it wasn’t a sale

Kurt Vile's "Chance To Bleed" has a high ringing chord in it that sounds exactly like the 60's-era NuTone doorbell in my house. I know it's coming now, but still have to check the door. Most of Ratatat's catalog makes me worried there is a bobcat in the vicinity. I may have to start writing letters

Snow day, yay I get to read a book and play hooky from work! Enjoying D.O.D.O. very much so far, I think N.S.’s penchant for superfluous tangents is reigned in cleverly by working with a coauthor, especially one as good as Galland

I've been working some more on my Montana Lego topography model and even as someone who specializes in fine and tedious work this one is a little ridiculous, and I haven't even gotten to the tough parts.

Why do I keep making things? Because I really enjoy making things. It takes a lot of patience and practice to make good things, but that work and the process are often even more rewarding than the finished thing. Shortcuts to instant “creativity” aren’t ever going to replace the experience of making

Got almost done with a cute puzzle template and then had a panicked thought - what if giraffes don’t have knees??! (spoiler: they do, but they are weird knees)

Being a cartoonist sometimes implies taking time off your graphic novel just so you can draw something else for once. Retro sci-fi/cassette futurism, especially of the anime kind, is very nostalgic to me.

Every so often I think about the crappy house I rented in West Denver in '02, solely because the address was 1420 Yates Street. The plumbing was super janky, but when you flushed the toilet it sounded almost exactly like the first two seconds of the orchestra stab of the ST:TNG theme. Good times.
