I have owned 22 Petrol or Diesel powered cars, but thank you GenericName236543 for informing me petrol car can be refilled in 5 minutes... than you for reminding me how much time i wasted doing that! thankfully my EV takes seconds to plug in every afternoon.

US regulators considering a light requirement for cars that are driving autonomously, or under FSD/Autopilot. wasn't it recently that Chinese regulators decided to ban light indicating a car was autonomous driving?

Strange seeing some articles claiming EV ute sales are slow, and MG thinks Australians still want EV utes.. sales are slow because the current options in the EV ute space are, to be blunt, pathetic. the MG u9 EV ute seems to be the first with a decent range.

New Mercedes AMG GT EV SUV, nice mouthful there, will have fake engine noises, either V6 or V8. now if it was a combustion engine, the V8 would cost ore than the V6...obviously.. But the fake noise of the V8 will set you back more than the fake V6 noise. interesting.

First new Steel mill to be built in OZ in 35 yrs, ahs signed an agreement to get supplied 100% by renewable power.. waiting for the anti Renewables to say its impossible any moment now

lots of whinging about cost of Snowy Hydro 2.0, now estimated at $25B, about the same as the cost of the new Airport in Western Sydney and its associated public transport. or, just 6% of the cost of AUKUS. One will provide power for a century, the other $368B? nothing. SFA

well, the 50mm of rain over th weekend that was forecast, only turned out to be about 3mm. was looking forward to some decent rain to wake the frogs from the mud in the dams.

how long do anti renewable energy ppl thing solar panels last? JinkoSolar has unveiled a 510 W all-black residential solar panel has a maximum power conversion efficiency of 25.52% AND a 40-year product warranty and a 40-year linear power output warranty.

Australia "The EV market is getting crowded" Chinese automakers"That's terrible. Anyway, here's another one." Wuling just secured Australian approval for Eksion EV 150kW, 69kWh bat, mid-size SUV, and likely aiming straight at Model Y, EX5, C10, Sealion 7 and friends.

what about Unit owners? well NSW Parliament on October 15, the Strata Schemes Legislation Amendment (Miscellaneous Bill) 2025 allows owners to add charging stations to their own lots regardless of whether the work involved means changes have to be made to the common property.

Car industry 2015 "EVs are too expensive." Car industry 2026 "Please welcome another affordable EV." Te Leapmotor B03 is headed toward Australia, joining the BYD Atto 1, Geely EX2 and Hyundai Inster in the rapidly expanding category of: "Cars that make petrol hatchbacks increasingly uncomfortable."

always hearing the argument "EVs will overload/destroy/fart on the grid" well, Australia is trialling 130 EVs that help power it. Vehicle-to-Grid tech lets parked EVs sell electricity back during peak demand, potentially earning fleet operators money while supporting the grid.

Apparently peak hour commute times now take longer than they did before the pandemic. You know what really cuts down on peak times! Some by nearly 100% Yeah. Working from home. And before you bang on about but my job can’t be done… you know what will reduce your commute?

Ok. Trying to get the big picture. Trump starts Iran war sending oil prices to orbit. He blames Ukraine . So buys diesel from Russia, who is also funding Iran. So self funding a war against the US. Believes buying from Russia will reduce war in Ukraine hence lowering oil price before elections?

New Mercedes AMG GT SUV (wagon) announced with 1100 hp, nice and powerful but also listed is a serious impressive 700kw charging! Comes with a massive 128kwh battery but only gets 450km range from it. Fast but not exactly efficient.

The BYD sealion 8 is coming to the Uk as an EV! With over 600km range! 7 seat SUV, But why is Australia only getting the PhEV version @BYDCompany

Good to hear Subaru are moving away from platform sharing with Toyota for Ev development, its well know toyota are HUGE at lobbying for continued use of oil fuels for their cars, and hopefully subaru can learn and make some truly great Evs! electriccarsreport.com/2026/10/suba...

electriccarsreport.comSubaru Develops Its Own EV Platform With 2029 in SightSubaru unveils a new EV platform with 510 hp, lighter batteries, improved crash protection and over-the-air updates, targeting production technology from 2029.

This one is for the “I’m not getting an EV because climate change is a scam” people. Am I doing pro EV rage bait properly? Will the argument be. No one can afford an EV?

We have energy plans offering FREE electricity when renewable energy is in excess, you know, to create demand to soak it up! I have noticed a lot of business do NOT allow EV owners to charge at work. so, what can be done to change this? @australianlabor.bsky.social #auspol

What percentage of #EV owners in Australia have installed dedicated chargers, or just use a mobile charger with a standard power outlet? Or situation is both at home. We have 7kw wall unit. During week it’s from standard 10 amp outlet.

Cheap Chinese EVs are doing what the RBA couldn't: dragging down inflation. The "BYD effect" is cutting fuel bills, insurance, and maintenance costs. EVs now make up a quarter of new car sales in Australia. The next target? Electrifying freight? hope so.

Sydney EV reposted

So for those who are thinking about an EV, but worry about range, this is a trip I did this week for work with a car that has one of the smallest batteries on the market at the moment. All on public charging with no access to household chargers and no attempt to minimise cost.

Remember when EVs were going to crash the grid? grid now has free electricity at 11am Australians responded by charging EVs, filling batteries and soaking up excess solar. Demand jumps by up to 700MW. Turns out the real threat was having too much energyand no one to use it

Anti EV journalists. "They only work in the city." Me, drives 9400km across the country EV critic "They're no good for long distances." Me, 2 trips of 1000km or more in a day.. At this point the biggest range limitation appears to be journalists' research

"How many electric SUVs would you like?" Australia: "Yes." The new Lepas L6 BEV launches from $47,990. Yet another Chinese EV arrives, and at this point the market is becoming less of a segment and more of a battle royale

Who would have thought the Chinese would be the ones to bring the power wagons back to Australian roads! With over 700kw of power and over 900nm torque and over 700km range! The Avatr 06T wagon is coming to Oz. Just need a sandman version now!

People assume I went EV for the environment, Nope. Asthma. environment 2nd air pollution to increased nighttime coughing. As a lifelong asthma sufferer, going all-EV coincided with such a dramatic improvement in my symptoms that I no longer need asthma medication. www.nature.com/articles/s44...

the VW ID4 and ID5? Gone. Replace them with an electric Tiguan. Up to 600km range, 2,000kg towing, and a dashboard that can cosplay as a Mk4 Golf. Finally a perfoarmance VW?

"But what about when the sun isn't shining?" again, another odd argument... yeah. About that... New analysis finds 4 hour battery storage is now cheaper than gas peakers plants across all 43 markets assessed. Turns out economics can be surprisingly renewable

Europe: "Here's your 570kW fully electric BYD Atto 8 with 5-minute fast charging." Australia: "Best I can do is the PHEV version." BYD's new seven-seat flagship EV packs up to 602km WLTP range and absurd charging speeds. NOT coming to OZ :( :(

Australia funded a 117-site EV fast-charging network. Three years later, 62 sites are finished and the report explaining why is almost entirely blacked out. Hardware problems, grid delays, approvals and bureaucracy appear to have done what range anxiety never could.

BYD Racco is NOT coming to Australia :(. Sad. Claiming low interest. I wonder if it’s actually Australian laws that seem to favour larger veggies over smaller cheaper and less polluting vehicle?

Chinese made cars are proving to be is it as safe as any other manufacturer. GAC AION UT and XPENG X9 both earn five stars from ANCAP under the tougher 2026-28 criteria. Destroying the myth about “Chinese craps”

Australia's rooftop solar hit a record 17.5GW. result? Record renewable curtailment, negative power prices, batteries soaking up as much cheap energy as they could. We've reached the stage where the problem isn't a lack of renewables. If only we had cars that could use it..

Remember when Australians were told we'd never get cool wagons again? Now we've got a 700kW+ electric wagon from Avatr joining Zeekr and Denza. The EV market has gone from please buy our photocopy crossover to choose your 3-second family wagon
