In grade school, the Three Investigators books were my absolute favorites. Effectively a 1960s Hardy Boys knockoff, but branded with Alfred Hitchcock. I recently started re-reading my collection. I'm at the second book and boy is this "of its time". Sooooo much fat shaming and bad "accents" 🤣

Update on Beyond the NES: I created the final release candidate yesterday, and am currently checking all pages for any final errors or oversights. It should be sent off to the printer by the end of the week!

There's always that one person who is exhausting to interact with. Who is nice, friendly, and means no harm, but every interaction leaves you physically drained. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're the person 🤣 This is not a subtweet.

This game reminds me of playing Half Life on my old Voodoo 3 and I'm all here for it

#DERELIKT has a demo! 🪐 Still surreal seeing people play it after all this time ... anyway, give it a try, I hope you enjoy it! store.steampowered.com/app/5242870/...

Meet #Station58, a cozy puzzle adventure about rebuilding a national park scattered across the sky. 🌌 Play as Starla and her giant robot companion Shorty as you explore and restore Barcadero National Park, solve alien puzzles, and uncover its mysteries... #IndieGame #CozyGame

Playing a cute little indie game called Adventurous Slime tonight. Simple, easy, and short Metroidvania with XP-based leveling and a freeform map that reminds me a bit of Castlequest in its openness (but a much better game).

You guys should watch the Convergence Games Showcase at 2:30pm ET: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWiO... I can't say "exactly" why, but there's at least one part of the show that is... relevant to my interests :)

I took an interesting risk with my Beyond the NES Kickstarter campaign - I thought "since it's basically a giant magazine, wouldn't it be cool to have spots for independent creators to advertise their stuff?" It was a risk, because I didn't want to fill the book with junk ads, off-topic, or (1/3)

controversial companies and products. I set things up so that if gambling sites or other misfits tried to buy ad space I had first right of refusal. But would the cool stuff find my book in time? Yes. Yes it did. I'm crazy excited to include these creators in my book! From homebrew games to (2/3)

walkthrough websites, from retro gear to kickass conventions - there aren't too many advertisers in the book (about 12 in a 330+ page book) but they're right on point and cool stuff I'm proud to help get the word out for. This community is awesome :)

It's really unbelievable how blithely ignorant a huge swath of gamedevs are about this -- they don't seem to grasp that the core of the fun isn't "getting the golfball into the hole", it's **being forced to do so only by hitting the ball with a stick**. (to very badly paraphrase Bernard Suits)

people who think the camera controls in kings field need to be faster are weak and their opinions should be disregarded

Every frame of Donald Duck's movement is drawn by a skilled artist. Every inflection in his voice is intentionally created by a skilled voice actor. Donald Duck is more human than this soulless marketing gimmick.

Queen’s Domain is launching OCT 30TH!! ⚔️ Excited to announce our retro-fantasy action RPG with brutal combat and traversal-focused exploration will be available soon for PC and Consoles. Coming to Steam, Switch 2, Xbox Series and PS5!

Would have blown my mind as a kid also, since the Raspberry Pi hidden inside the cartridge that's doing all the actual 3D processing didn't even exist back then! In all seriousness this sort of stuff is cool to see but the Famicom is really only being used for the final drawing pass.

This polygonal game called FC-Pico running on stock Famicom hardware is incredibly impressive and would have definitely blown my mind as a kid. #GameLegend #ゲームレジェンド
