One year of talking about menstrual hygiene. One year of learning, sharing and raising awareness. I am proud of this journey, and I hope to do even more. Every girl deserves dignity, knowledge and support. #MenstrualHygiene

Sometimes a small decision can lead to an unexpectedly big harvest. These beautiful squash show that trying a few resistant varieties can be worthwhile, even after a difficult growing season. Looking forward to seeing how the experiment turns out.

Clean hands. Safer periods Always wash your hands before and after changing your menstrual product. It’s a simple habit that helps prevent infections. Let’s make menstrual hygiene a daily habit. #MenstrualHygiene #HealthEducation

COVID hospitalization and its potential association with stroke risk is an important public health issue. Sharing research like this helps highlight the need for continued attention to prevention, vaccination and post infection care.

Denis - The COVID Info Guy@thecovidinfoguy.bsky.social

"Older adults hospitalized for COVID at increased risk for stroke, data show" A study of 1.2 million people aged 50+ found COVID hospitalisation was linked to a 23% higher stroke risk, rising to 35% in the first 3 months after infection. Vaccination had a 21% lower likelihood of experiencing stroke

🩸 LADIES, BE CAREFUL WITH THE MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS YOU USE. Recent reports and research from Nigeria have raised concerns about the safety of some sanitary pads. Choose products from trusted sources, and take unusual irritation or discomfort seriously. 1/2

Menstrual hygiene is not a luxury. Every girl deserves clean menstrual products, privacy and dignity. What is one thing you wish more people understood about periods?

Your period should not stop you from going about your day. Simple tip: Change your pad regularly. Do not wait until it is completely full. It helps you stay clean, comfortable and confident. Menstrual hygiene is health and dignity.

Menstrual hygiene is not just about having a pad. It is also about having clean water, a safe bathroom, correct information, and no shame. Every girl and woman deserves to manage her period safely and with dignity. Period care is basic care. 🩸

Honestly, just listing the price upfront would save everyone time. A long application should not come before knowing whether the adoption fee is even within your budget.

Those birds really said: berry season is a group project. 😂

Poor orange boy. He lost his human and then got left behind too. At least he has a new home now.

The neighbor who went to a nursing home passed away and her indoor cat has gone to a new home but she had a mostly outdoor orange tom that nobody can approach, so he got left behind. So, we have an orange boy now. Don’t know his name but leaning toward Alexander Pusskin

Period poverty should not stop a girl from going to school, working, or living normally. Every girl deserves access to safe menstrual products. Let’s end period poverty.

Menstrual education should go beyond giving out pads. Girls need to understand how to use, wash and care for them with confidence. Education removes fear and helps protect dignity.

Personal freedom and bodily autonomy are important conversations. Respecting people's choices is a good place to start.

Marje isn’t haunted by ghosts@minn-finn.bsky.social

I can tell that I need to continue talking about the importance of personal bodily autonomy as a human right and a marker of freedom. Trans rights are intimately connected to that personal freedom. There is no standing to argue otherwise.

Douala is under water again. Heavy rains have flooded several neighbourhoods, leaving families, roads, businesses and vehicles affected. This is bigger than just rain. We need better drainage, better planning and stronger action. If you are in Douala, which area is most affected right now?

This is an important story. Giving neglected crises more visibility can help people understand what refugees are really going through. #endanglophonecrisis🇨🇲

“One of Many Neglected Crises,” a documentary film project by Nange Keller. She is traveling to Nigeria with a team of friends to make a film about refugees who have fled the war in Cameroon, known (or rather, unknown) as the “Anglophone Crisis.” www.startnext.com/en/one-of-ma...

Women should not have to live in fear of violence. Femicide is not just a women’s issue. It is a human rights issue that demands action, justice and accountability. Cameroon needs stronger systems to protect women and girls.

zurielmalembe.bsky.social@zurielmalembe.bsky.social

🇨🇲 Cameroon is facing a femicide crisis. Around 250 women were reportedly killed in 2023, and eight women were killed in one week this August. When does protecting women become a national priority?

This is heartbreaking. A 30% rise in child malnutrition is more than a statistic. It means more children and families are struggling to access the food and care they need. Humanitarian crises often affect children the most. They need food, healthcare and protection, not just emergency attention.

This is a powerful piece of Cameroon's cultural history. The craftsmanship, symbolism and detail in this Babanki chair show how much knowledge and creativity has been passed down through generations. It is important that we continue documenting and sharing these stories to the world.

Count the heads on the base. Twenty-four of them, carved into three undulating rings that hold the whole seat up. The chair is 31 inches tall, cut from wood and painted, made in the Cameroon Grassfields in the 1800s by a carver working in the Babanki style.

Dignity kits are not just supplies. They help women and girls maintain hygiene, health, and dignity during crisis. A powerful reminder that menstrual health must also be part of emergency response.

Our hearts are with all those affected by the devastation in Nepal—including our Ipas colleagues. Your donations can help Ipas Nepal distribute dignity kits, which provide toiletries and sanitary pads, to give women much-needed dignity and relief after enduring so much hardship. buff.ly/ltdsUa9

A real issue. Period products should work for different bodies, flows, and comfort needs. There is still a lot of room for better design and more choices.

Crittr@monstrinthecloset.bsky.social

Someone needs to step up the period product game.. ive never found a pad that fits in my underwear while still being absorbant enough, pads always make a huge mess to the point i cannot stand them one bit, but tampons give me headaches I just suffer the tampons #menstruation #period #tmi

This is such a powerful initiative. Reusable pads can support dignity while reducing waste. More efforts like this are needed.

Phil Lewis@phillewis.bsky.social

A group of retired Black women in Philly gather weekly to sew period pads for girls in Africa. Along the way, they've also built a community here "We believe in each other and have faith in ourselves, and we have faith others are going to support us”

Clean water, sanitation and hygiene are essential after disasters. Emergency support like this can protect health and help affected communities recover.

WaterAid America@wateraidamerica.bsky.social

On August 26, following a glacial flooding disaster near the Nepal-Tibet border water, sanitation and hygiene facilities have been wiped away and those remaining are at risk of flood contamination. Vital infrastructures have been destroyed leaving many survivors stranded. #Nepal

Hello Bluesky. I am starting this journey to share what I learn, what I see, and what I care about. I will be talking about menstrual health, education, social impact and the realities faced by girls and women in Cameroon and beyond. Learning, connecting and growing, one conversation at a time.

You are up to date.
