Having fun with a more biological (but still fantasy) take on fairies. I wanted them to be intelligent insects that could manipulate humans and other animals with pheromones. Causing confusion, memory loss and other effects. They mainly do this to keep themselves safe and hidden.

Retired queens enjoy higher status and rewards for their service. They also guide new queens and help to govern colonies. Unfortunately they often suffer from fatigue and other health problems.

A digital sketch with colour featuring Phineas the wandering beast for sparkbird (tumblr.) A pretty fun character based off heraldic beasts and illuminated manuscripts.

Moth fairies are typically studious little things. They are quiet and introverted compared to their more flamboyant close relations, the butterfly faeries. They tend to be scientists, artists and philosophers.

They'll often spend their whole lives in the safety of their colony, but sometimes particularly brave and determined moths will venture out for the sake of their chosen field and for some adventure. Continuing the insect fairy project bsky.app/profile/tash...

However overproduction of these chemicals can effect her health and lifespan and so queens have to be regularly retired and replaced by carefully chosen princesses.

I don't stream but wanted to try making a little Resi pngtuber anyway. At least I can use this if I ever work up the courage to start. Had some trouble with PNGTubeRemix, but I finally got her moving the way I want. I might still mess with the settings, but for now I'm just glad she's working!

They're based on different insects, mainly bees and mantises for this one. I went for the mantis like body plan as I wanted them to have a pair of little hands free to use tools with. And to subtlety anthropomorphise them while still keeping them a little otherworldly looking.

This one's a busy little worker, the queen and warrior versions of her species are larger and more dramatic looking. I'm also thinking about sub-species more based on moths, butterflies, rhino beetles etc.

That was an unintentionally long break. I’ve been messing around with my movink tablet and I’ve been drawing more on that lately. I love it but it’s effected my process a bit. But I’m finally ready to take commissions again!

Saw the new trailer so I had to draw Spyro! This take on him is based on geckos and baby crocs. I think i made the face a little too gremlin-like, but I'm just going to pretend this is what the sheep see before the player charges or flames them.

A wee group of angry balaclava and mask-wearing anti-immigration guys tried to stop the good people of Glasgow showing solidarity with migrants and standing up to racism and fascism. Well, the far right are far outnumbered... #RefugeesWelcome #MigrantsWelcome #NeighboursNotStrangers #Glasgow

Will be away, then busy for a while so here's a thing I've been working on. Yveltal vs Lugia. I've been wanting to draw the two weird arm wing, bird dragons together for a while now

#PortfolioDay Hello! I'm Natasha, creature designer and fantasy illustrator. Currently working on a project about fantasy felines. I like to work traditionally and digitally. Open to work.

Final spread of the Guardian Lion for my fantasy feline project. Though I might mess with the layout and text a bit more if I end up printing it. I think I've decided I'm going to take this project on a traditional direction with some digital help. Which means I'll need to re-do the cat sith again.

@bigfatsocialist.bsky.social has been excellent to work with! Any Glasgow based background artists interested?

Hey Artists of Bluesky, any Glasgow based background artists up in this bitch? Ideally with Fantasy and Science Fiction Expereience? Man needs backgrounds a thousand years ago, I've got a Shed full of green screen wall, money to pay and I wanna build worlds.

Final painting of the guardian lion for my fantasy felines project. I'm also gonna do some accompanying drawings of the female and cub I think. Lana hot press paper sketchbook from Koval Schmincke watercolours Poster paint and colour pencils for finishing details. Some digital clean up and editing.

A sappy Valentines ink and watercolour for my boyfriend and me! I tried printing the sketch directly onto the watercolour paper for this one. Trying to avoid headaches from the lightbox.

I'm yet again re-drawing this Guardian Lion Illustration for my fantasy felines project. My plan is to use my new watercolour sketchbook for main watercolour illustrations and some accompanying pencil drawings for each cat. Pencil with some digital clean up

Fancy rats! A hairless one with a treat, a regular fancy rat and a sleeping dumbo rat. The regular one is based on my own boy Red. Hoping to make these into charms and stickers soon!

Updates - I've simplified the digital colour options so its just the more simple one. The more detailed one wasn't requested often and I personally didn't use it much as well. Though if you do want something more rendered the digital and traditional painting options are still available.
