Fossil fuel pesticides and synthetic fertilizers sit at the centre of a web of interconnected crises: climate change, biodiversity collapse, chronic disease, and farmer poverty.

The @futureoffood.bsky.social’s latest report uses a True Cost Accounting lens to reveal the extent of social, environmental, health, and economic harm caused by embedding agrochemicals in our agrifood systems.

But, TCA is about more than exposing hidden costs. In the report's Pathway 2, contributors argued that hidden costs exposed through TCA must be internalized through taxation and polluter pays policies, as opposed to passing the costs onto farmers, communities, public health systems and ecosystems.
