I like events like these, I think they are good for every artist. This one is a quick draw so it's over at noon TODAY. It gets you out, sketching and really evaluating what you're good at. I've got a solid understanding of whitespace and line so I'm gonna see if I can lean on that a little

A thing I think about a lot is how directly this stuff is descended from casino customer-tracking apps as they were emerging in the 90s. Addiction By Design covers this in a chapter - casinos harvest data on videoslot players and then measure exactly where their "Frustration point" is on losses.

Spent a good bit trying to gently explain to my FIL tonight over dinner why I can't run for local public office, he wouldn't drop it. So I finally had to say "Joe they would instantly find my highly publicly available monster dong art. I don't think that makes me a good school board candidate"

The hardest part of having a kid, isn't the exhaustion or pain or cleaning, all the baby stuff is hard but worth it, but some people are actually fucking mean to me now or treat me like I'm an invalid or some shit. Your friends circle closes hard and fast almost immediately.

People expect way too much from you way early. sub a year, babies are a grub that you have to physically carry everywhere. Baby is 4mo now and people expect things to be the same and that we can stay out for hours on end. It feel like people are just hyper unaware of their own behavior and patterns

Took me all day but finally got my brooder stack setup. For about 6 years I've been using just whatever tub I had laying around and finally I've got a really nice setup that has a lot of options for care and sanitation. Suuuuper stoked to make more show chickens this way

I say poultry is my "hobby" but I'm literally the judge for the state of NJ 4H fair this year lol. Off to judge this morning! So excited to see what birds are there today!

I was going to give updates but it ended up being a whirlwind of so many birds and so much to do that 5hrs later all the birds and showmanship is completed! Best of show went to a red Pyle modern game hen that was really lovely and had the right shape and type. Didn't get a picture of her sadly!

My side hobby is preserving this specific breed of heritage poultry's genetics. Genetically all of these birds are black, but they Carey the barring gene that causes the melanocytes of the feathers to die early (but consistently) But this bird seems to have a gene causing them to die erratically

Shes a bit tattered because its molting season but you can tell the feathers are no longer the correct cuckoo barring The gene appears to fault very similar to human graying of our hair. It's pretty neat.She's a cross of two lines (PBJ x Justice are their names) and I'm curious to see how she ages!

Chicken genetics are very strange, they don't use xy, they use zw and zz; the egg contains either z or w, and it's split 50:50 roosters only shoot z There are barred whites, dominant white, and recessive whites and the colors are all controlled in different zones of the birds feathers! Pretty neat!

I'm not gonna lie, having a baby kinda rules. He's just a cool little dude that wants to hang out all day and gets to wear onesies. He sometimes has big feelings and dude I get that. Me too.
