Just because I'm getting major deja vu, doesn't mean that it won't come true this time.
It's been a year. No matter how you look at it, we are one year closer than we were last year. And we were already close back then.
We've entered the part of the year when I start ranting about HLX unprompted.
And almost everything I say word for word the same stuff I was saying in 2025.
I was just thinking, why isn't Half-Life 2 om Switch? Portal is. And those games are like two cheat codes away from each other. On a technical level, Portal is basically an HL2 mod. So why not? It'd take almost no effort.

If it is what everything points to it being, it's the most anticipated game in the history of gaming. And I think that Valve wouldn't be opposed to giving its reveal more fanfare than they usually do.
Most reasonable people say that when The Day comes, Valve will just drop a trailer out of the blue on their socials, which I still believe is the most likely course of action. But the thing those people fail to consider is that this isn't just any project we're talking about.
Can you imagine the meltdown if in 2022 people were datamining strings from Source 2 for a project named "HL3"?
Or right here if Mike said HL3 instead of HLX? People would lose their shit
Someone on Twitter pointed out that in this shot in Edgerunners 2 in the reference screenshot that they used for the background, megabuilding H10's exterior was unloaded and you can only see the interior floating by itself lmao 😭😭
Half-Life: Alyx was announced ~4 months before its release. So my best guess is we'll get the trailer around January (or generally in Q1 2027). Then the release would be around April. So announcement: Q1, and release: Q2 (or late Q1)
And the funny thing is that we could very well be in the final stretch right now.
We know that the game was presumably close to release in late 2025, but that was before Valve decided to rework some stuff and decouple the game from the Steam Machine (from what we know/guess).
Now we're just left with the question: how long will it take? I'm not goin to say that an announcement this year is impossible, because as unlikely as it may be, I think it IS possible. (Though it probably won't happen this year)
Valve composer & sound designer Mike Morasky seemingly slips up & mentions "HLX" in a Q&A conference:
"...Deadlock has its own version of HDR, HLX has its own"

HLX is the rumored codename for a new Half-Life game or Half-Life 3 according to dataminers
