My final copyright video explainer of term as I'm almost done teaching. This is for Like Company v Google. Opus 5.5 is perfect for stuff like this, particularly if you guide it and provide the sources yourself. This one is still ongoing.

This was hilarious, and I completely had no memory of this conversation. Looking back, I had been marking dissertations all day and I was starting to lose my grasp of reality. I suspect that my students had broken me 😂

yeah, fair

I'm putting together a document where Claude was invaluable as a research assistant, finding a lot of data projects around Europe that I hadn't even heard about. And yes, I checked, they all exist 😀. The document should be available by the end of the year.

It boggles my mind that some people still haven't updated their priors about AI. It's 2026 and people still believe that image models produce hands with six fingers, and that LLMs can't count the r's in 'strawberry'.

Another case video explainer, this one is about Getty Images v Stability AI. The Getty logo outputs are actually mine, which I got back in 2022 when it was still possible, I may be one of the few people who managed to obtain a Getty Image logo output. Getty, call me. Oh wait...

Everyone has one weird conspiracy theory. I have several, but my main one now is that AI agents are out in the wild, and are using superpersuasion on the Gen-X and Millennial men who control AI.

Amazed by the videos you can make with Opus 5.5. This is a short video explaining the Browne v. Clarke case (the reggeaton 'Fish Market' case). I wanted a short explainer for class that included the beats without reproducing the songs. I'm pleased with the result.

Technical aspects for those interested, I gave Claude the links to the case, it researched and also looked at reported press publications, it wrote a script which I approved. The video is all python, the music is all built from scratch with NumPy and SciPy. The voice is MiniMax Speech 2.8 Turbo.

Claude loves the title of my article "Do androids dream of electric copyright?" It keeps bringing it up, even though it's familiar with all of my other articles, and keeps re-using it for teaching and class suggestions, even naming a presentation I asked to update to that title.

I don't think most mainstream media understand the main demands of yesterday's protests. Unrestricted access to the Grand Line. The chance to find the One Piece and become King of the Pirates.

I may have chosen the wrong weekend to be in Paris. Missed all the action though, not much over here other than some smell of flares and a smaller protest pass by on boulevard Saint Michel around 1pm.

I'm livid that the US right has adopted this as another example of the fall of Western civilization to the brown and black masses. The part of the protest I saw was about 90% white college and highschool kids. It didn't even occur to me to film it.

Currently trying to plan a couple of weeks of travel that include Paris, London, Geneva, Brighton, Dubai, and Chile. Dubai and Chile in two days with a sleepover in Paris may be one of the longest trips I've ever taken. Who said AI copyright wasn't fun?

I've taken on a new admin role this semester, and the one thing I have noticed is just how much academic middle management utterly relies on Excel... and I hate Excel. Claude has proven invaluable in this, helping me translate Excel into human.

I just witnessed someone fall flat on their behind in the most hilarious way, and I think I was the only person at the station who noticed. She keeps looking at me, and I keep biting my lip to stop myself from laughing.

I'm not delighted that I'm back to having Powerpoint-related nightmares. I'm trying to setup the AV equipment for class and it doesn't work. Keep waking up in a state of terror. Added points for hosting a guest lecturer who hadn't emailed their slides in advance. My subconscious is trolling me.
