Mass Effect was my ultimate white whale, my all-time dream project. For the last couple years I'd been in discussion w/ BioWare & EA to take on the project & as part of that I wrote close to 20 minutes of music to explore where the franchise can go next, may as well share it!

Saw a post about the #SaveMassEffect petition saying that 'people don't care about developers, they just want product'. I'm not gonna quote that post because frankly its a really shitty take. Because the trailer leaked, I know the names of the devs that spoke up. They ALL deserved better.

The fact that I even have to say any of this, on here of all places where calls to action happen fucking daily, is confounding to me. If putting my fucking name on a petition that likely won't end in a meaningful outcome is stupid, then so be it. At least I'm trying to care and show solidarity.

At least the people who make our games will see that they are loved and recognised for their efforts, that their work *meant* something to us. But you're right; I'm a stupid, irrational human who loves his stupid sci-fi gremlins, and I love the people who made them. They deserve to be loved too.

And again, and again. Another beloved franchise, another team of exceptionally talented people scattered to the winds. Another line crossed. Another studio closed. But at least you got to call people stupid for trying something. Great job, man. Very brave of you. Your mother's very proud.

Is the StopKillingGames movement perfect? No. But that IS an example of that same kind of energy being put to use. Tell people what they can do. Don't scold them. Don't bang on about how dumb they are for caring about their special blorbos. You don't win or change anything doing that.

If you want the average person to understand the plight of labour in this industry, then SHOW them what that means, what we ALL lose. Guide that energy to where it needs to be. Is it just for a product? For some people, yes. Let's not delude ourselves. But you can use that energy for something.

You can call people consumers all you want, but all it does is breed resentment. You know this. I know this. If this petition gets people thinking about the bigger picture, then that's a win for you. No matter how incremental or product-pilled it may seem. Because this will happen again.

Btw if you're from australia and buying miniatures, don't buy from Warhaus, their entire site is now covered in AI imagery. Found out after they put a christmas sticker of a Tau fire warrior that seemed off-putting. I have all this store credit saved up and now I dunno what to do with it lol

I don't think the new Mass Effect game would change anything, nor did I want another game after how the dead space remake was treated. Too much time has passed. EA's internal milestones are so comically out of touch that even if it were successful, it STILL wouldn't be enough.

This gets said constantly, but it worth reiterating: Games Workshop being bigger than fishing is important to shout about because you wouldn't know it from government talking points, which are rarely about anything creative or artistic. Growth won't involve fish or steel, it will involve goblins.
