Caleb Williams receiving backhanded criticism about his “personality” (by way of praising Drake Maye’s) is the latest asshattery contrived to put the focus anywhere but his transcendent play. Some folks seem terrified of him becoming the face of the #NFL. #Bears bleacherreport.com/articles/255...

bleacherreport.comCaleb Williams vs. Drake Maye Voted on by NFL Personnel, Results Revealed After Bears Beat PatriotsBefore the Chicago Bears defeated the New England Patriots last Thursday, 30-24, Albert Breer of SI.com polled 17 coaches and executives from around the NFL about whether they'd prefer to build their ...

Unpopular opinion: I didn’t love the #Bears’ trade for Khalil Mack in 2018 (great player, poor return) and I’m just as dubious about the idea now. Although the stakes are lower, the impact is likely to be minimal; while Chicago has quietly unearthed problems bigger than its front four pass rush.

Thanks to the #Lions taking care of business vs. the #Packers, #Bears remain in sole possession of 2nd place in the NFC North, despite an inconvenient 0-2 record in the division. Worth noting, I suppose, that both losses came during games that Caleb Williams did not play in or did not finish.

Didn’t like the decision by Dan Campbell to go for it on 4th there instead of taking the points. I get the desire to make it a 2 score game, but with an entire quarter left to play, that strategy becomes less defensible. You could have notched that deficit on the next possession w/a FG. #Lions

I’m over the “Green Bay Sucks” chant. Getting acknowledged on #TNF was funny but it’s been off and on for 15 minutes. Now, Caleb’s trying to give an interview, getting his flowers on national prime time, and fans r shouting over him. At least we started chanting MVP…let’s put that one at lead off.

I get that Maye has above average mobility, but the number of times in this game where a #Bears rusher has gotten close enough to sniff his jock and yet still not finish is almost enough to make me jump on the Khalil Mack trade bandwagon. #TNF

Unacceptable play by Odunze. Another drop in the end zone of what should be a gimme catch. IDC so much about the push off, as that can go either way; but he’s gotta catch that. I love Rome and really don’t want to see his career in Chicago cut short, but this is becoming a problem. #Bears #TNF

Just caught that the #Bears are wearing an #89 jersey patch. They obviously didn’t have time to embroider them before the GB game and opted for a helmet sticker instead. But a nice way to honor Coach Ditka for the remainder of the season. Did the same for Butkus and Payton.

Makes you wonder who in the future, if anyone, the team might be able to honor in a similar way. #Bears have drafted hall of famers since ‘85 (Urlacher, Hester) but Ditka, Butkus and Payton were synonymous, not just with Chicago, but with the sport itself. A high bar, but maybe a good problem. 🐻⬇️

Man if #Bears would have recovered that fumble, ooooh boy. Quietly aggressive move by BJ to save the 10 second runoff to preserve time and go for one more score before the half. I think the almost fumble recovery got to him.

Really shocked BJ isn’t going for it here. Completely defensible, but…holy shit that was an INCREDIBLE special teams play by Josh Blackwell. #Bears #CHIvsATL

The f***ing holding calls today are negating some amazing efforts by our skill players, most recently an absolute beast mode run by Odunze. Shame, though Ozzy gets a pass since dude just did a beast mode recovery and bro hasn’t played football since Jan. But gotta clean that up across board. #Bears

With the personnel problems that have plagued the defense, it wouldn’t surprise me if the #Bears were active leading up to the trade deadline. One player I’d be interested in is Tuli Tuipulotu. Not sure about scheme fit, but his would be a Sweat-like deal that fits what Poles has done in the past.

The advantage of a player like Tuipulotu is that he’s still on a rookie deal, meaning the #Bears could fully absorb his contract in-season w/o having to rework any existing deals. Then extend him in the offseason when they have more flexibility to cut/trade players and better manage the cap.

I don’t necessarily expect this deal to happen. But it’s the type of move that makes more sense from Poles’ vantage vs. sending multiple first rounders for a player like Crosby, spending valuable draft picks on 12 games of Mack, or immediately going over the cap to bring on Josh Sweat.

#Bears could also use help at CB. The smoke has been around Mack for sentimental reasons, but my feeling is that Poles prefers to protect his draft capital and prolly isn’t keen on pricey one year rentals. So Tuli Tuipulotu makes more strategic sense…IF the Chargers decide to move him.

Caleb Williams being activated ahead of the Atlanta game has to be news Bears to fans’ ears. It’s been a tough few weeks in Chicago. 🐻⬇️

Lengthy moratorium ahead tonight at Halas Hall. What have fans learned from the belt-to-ass beatdown the #Packers dished out? Caleb Williams is unquestionably the #Bears best & most important player. Feel good stories about backups & coaching black magic will take them only so far without No 18.

There’s no sugar coating: ❌ Offense committed 3 turnovers and did nothing on the ground. ❌ Defense allowed 30+ pts and was burned all day by GB WRs. ❌ Special teams was sloppy & left points on the field. ❌ Coaches failed to adjust. Not even Ditka’s ghost could rescue #Bears from all that.

Personally, I’ve seen enough of Bagent today. His mobility has not been an asset and the decision making doesn’t seem to be there. If I’m Ben Johnson, I’ve got little reason to think I’m going to engineer a comeback without something changing. #Bears

Very little is going right for Chicago today. From injuries, to poor QB play, to special teams errors, and Jaylon Johnson getting burned on double deep shots, all vs a GB team with problems of their own. Bottom line: #Packers’ game plan has been working. Bears’ has not. #GBvsCHI #NFL

Case Keenum warming up with 10 left minutes to go in the second, sans injury, is the worst case scenario for the #Bears’ start to this game. Kudos to Ben Johnson b/c, up to this pt, the game has looked too big for Bagent and BJ was in the process of being out-coached in GB. #GBvsCHI

Chanced upon an old #SNL episode, c. 2008, featuring a surprise introduction by Barack Obama. He came out to raucous applause, then graciously departed, presumably to talk about hope and change and not all of humanity perishing in an AI apocalypse. Those halcyon days…

Wonder if the #Bears will recognize Ditka in any way. They did patches for Payton and Butkus but idk if the McCaskeys held 89 in quite the same esteem. Not sure “da coach” had any love lost for MM, either.

Wasn’t exactly an offensive explosion, but the #Bears are getting a nice sendoff from the Soldier Field crowd for taking care of business. It feels like Chicago could glide though a significant injury to their QB1 still looking like a contender & the coaching staff really deserves some 💐 for that.

Brees: “You’ve started three QBs and the result has been the same.” Drew, I’m fairly sure that Ben Johnson has been DVRing this game, just waiting for someone to say this. #Bears

All the defensive stops in the world aren’t going to do it if the #Bears can’t take care of the football. We’ve had an INT from Tyson, a near fumble by Rome, another near INT, now a fumble by Swifty and I might even be forgetting something. Are we using leftover wet balls from the Vikings game?

Rome could use a big game. Aside from the near-fumble, he’s been showing up on cue. Hope he stays involved as he seems to have good chemistry with Bagent. #Bears need to tighten a few things up on offense in the 2nd half — and Tyson needs to take care of the ball. #NFL

Here’s the thing about Bagent: the ball comes out quickly, he’s nimble, accurate and the memory and processing are top notch. You can see what Ben Johnson likes. But he’s also aggressive and will throw it to you, which is why he came in with a 3:6 TD/INT ratio. #Bears #BearsvsJets #NFL

I don’t know if Ben Johnson actually believes in hot hands. But he must know that a lot of sports ppl do and that they make up an audible chunk of his audience. So he quiets them in agreement while calling up his preferred QB, who will now face min resistance. We do know Johnson is savvy. #Bears
