Semifinal Saturday: Ningbo the only 500 this week but a few of the ATP 250s have very strong matchups.

Flavio Cobolli wins 6-2, 6-4 vs Stan Wawrinka in Lyon Cobolli avoids a 10th opening round defeat this year, is currently 5th in the Race to Turin which is really 4th.

The WTA Finals Alternate situation is a lot simpler than it was yesterday after Ningbo results Was informed Chwalinska can not be an alternate as she didn't play the required 8 events between WTA 1000/500s so removed her. We'll see if Kostyuk is healthy enough to be an alternate or not.

Thursday: Ningbo continues on and Rybakina plays her first match there. Cobolli/Wawrinka could be interesting in Lyon and possibly the last day of Goffin's career in Brussels as he's playing both singles and doubles.

This is where the WTA Finals Alternate situation currently is. Kostyuk doesn't seem healthy so in likelihood, Jovic ends up the first alternate but a few players trying to pass them still.

Kostyuk retires in Ningbo, which means Karolina Muchova has clinched her spot in the WTA Finals and the field is officially set.

Wednesday: Kostyuk's first match in Ningbo is a tough one against Alexandrova. If she loses, the WTA Finals field is set. Goffin plays what could be his final match in Brussels.

News: Iga Swiatek is ending her season, so in all likelihood, Kostyuk will be the 1st alternate in the WTA Finals, unless Marta has an insane run in Ningbo and Tokyo and qualifies.

News: Iga Swiatek is out of Ningbo which eliminates her from WTA Finals contention WTA Finals field should be set any day now, it feels beyond unlikely that Kostyuk is going to win both Ningbo and Tokyo which is what it would require to qualify.

Tuesday: Ningbo continues on as does the other four 250s.

News: Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils set for divorce Was not expecting to wake this one but this would explain the sudden retirement by Monfils instead of playing Lyon and the Paris Masters one more time.

Monday: Asian Swing starts to wrap up on the WTA and the European indoors starts for the ATP.

ATP Top 10/Race Top 9: Zverev hits 10K points which has been tough to do historically, he is behind Sinner for now but is already confirmed Year End #1. Sinner hits 94 weeks as the #1 and the Race is getting real interesting. Zverev, Alcaraz, Shelton have all qualified but 5 spots up for grabs.

WTA Top 10/Race Top 8: Chwalinska gets just outside the Top 10, no movement inside the Top 10. Svitolina qualified for WTA Finals, meaning there is now only 1 spot remaining in the WTA Finals. Rybakina is at #1 for a 6th week, 2 weeks behind Pliskova.
