There's loads of people who yearn for a night job that's not like, bartending or factory work. And loads of customers who need to get things done in the evening for whatever reason. Our current 1-shift daytime system cant even serve the people it's supposedly designed for!

Which also like, I think ive been to a theater like 4 or 5 times in the 16 years ive been in chicago, whereas I went a lot in my hometown. Idk. I have a tendency to fall asleep in dark rooms, so movie tickets are not rly worth it when I could do literally anything else in chicago.

I was gonna tack on "go to the theater" bc I feel like that's where humans are still making art, but then I realized to a lot of americans "theater" means "movie theater" and idk how to phrase the other one that I mean. Play theater? Stage theater?

Okay so I def learned this from black men, but I really love the practice of humming a tune when youre trying to walk past ppl on the sidewalk n such, instead of saying "excuse me". The hum alerts ppl to your presence, without creating a social situation where words need to be exchanged.

Usually ppl are listening to their surroundings (at least in the city). If you say "excuse me", ppl turn around, register where you are and then move. If they hear a sound behind them they naturally move out of the way. The hum is friendly, universal language, but does not require a verbal response.
