An interesting detail from the recent RSG meeting, all site traffic coming in to the estate will turn left into Teviot St. from the A12. That means up to 64 construction vehicles a day, of which 48 HGVs, going down this narrow estate road. Around 250,000 trips over 15 years.

The demolition schedule says that Chadbourn St. is scheduled to be demolished "October 2026 to February 2027". It also marks it as being for private sale, but with "right to return / social" in brackets.

This is shocking: Barratt Homes built Poplar's Neutron Tower in 2008, scene of a fatal fire on 12 Sep (causes as yet unknown) It has insulation panels filled with combustible PIR, which releases toxic gases when it burns 1/2 @peteapps.bsky.social | peteapps.substack.com/p/a-fire-in-...

When was the Teviot Estate transferred to Poplar HARCA from Tower Hamlets Council? 6/6/2007 Cabinet approved transfers of Aberfeldy, Brownfield and some of Teviot, but transfer of the parts of the Teviot Estate covered by the current regeneration scheme was later Anyone know?

I had this wrong - the Teviot Estate units involved in the current regeneration scheme were transferred in 1998, part of the initial transfer that formed Poplar HARCA And rather than given free or for a peppercorn, LBTH actually paid Poplar HARCA £19k for each property (ave.)

Interesting article from 2013 on LBTH and Poplar HARCA’s policies displacing long‑term working‑class residents from the area All Balfron Tower social tenants were told they could return after refurbishment, but the promise was later reversed novaramedia.com/2013/08/20/s...

It was good to see so many people from different campaigns and groups at the demonstration at Parliament Square today to demand: * Fix the Housing Crisis * Rent Controls & Council Housing Now

All blocks - 1 to 27 - are to be demolished under the Teviot Estate "regeneration" scheme Isn't this an estate replacement scheme, not regeneration? Replacing a mostly-social housing estate with a mostly-private sale estate

An interesting detail from from a council officer at the Strategic Development Committee which approved the Teviot Estate development Estate regeneration schemes are not subject to the 35% affordability targets that other schemes are. Instead tenure mix is based on "viability"

The main details of the Teviot Estate development are set out in the "Teviot Neighbourhood Masterplan Design and Access Statement May 2024". This is available as a single document here (the version published by LBTH is broken into 11 parts): 1/3 substack.com/home/post/p-...
