The “Love Trouble” story in the 1941 Mickey strip is arguably the best the characters were ever drawn. (it’s the one with Mickey kicking out a window that goes around) It’s in Vol. 6 of the Gottfredson Library, and will likely be in whatever collections they’re planning for the rat’s centennial.

R.I.P. Dan McGrath, who gets writing credits on most of The Simpsons’ golden years, including for what I think is the best episode of the entire series, “The Devil and Homer Simpson”. I don’t think Dave Silverman would have went as nuts with this if it didn’t all start with that sharp script.

Holy hell, I wanted to think that IGN Mario & Luigi: Brothership “5” was just edgelord shit, but 41 hours in with lagging everywhere and more backtracking shit even this late, I think I get where they’re coming from. This should’ve been on the next console. (And I still LIKE it.)

I posted this on the shithole site, but I'm really happy MeTV is running the Walter Lantz color cartoons starting in September. This is the first time Woody has been on regular U.S. TV since 1997!

Lantz's whole output is defined by his stature as a silent cartoonist, meaning the gag (ANY gag) stood before all, and there's two long bookends of mostly bland (but watchable) cartoons, but the middle sweet spot (1943-55) had many GEMS by Culhane, Lundy, Patterson, and Avery.

You are up to date.
