It appears that Magdalena Andersson (S) has given up her attempt to build a new government coalition in Sweden. The re-elected speaker can, of course, give her a new opportunity to form a government if he decides that is the best way forward. Shades of 2018.

Sweden Democrats (far right) now want to ban veils and hijabs in public places. When asked about the women who actually want to wear the veil, party spokesperson Sara Gille answered, "If you want to do that, there are other countries to go to where they actually allow it."

When Labour wrote the following in its 2024 manifesto: - families weighed down by soaring mortgages; people waiting on trolleys in A&E; sewage in our rivers I wrongly assumed that a Labour government would tackle these problems rather than treat them as the status quo.
