www.afr.com/companies/re... What a surprise. A dinosaur of an organisation acting like a dinosaur. This thing is cooked. The MD is clueless and did a horrific deal buying declining brands. All this will do is see the best employees who have a choice leave.

afr.comMyer cancels work from home for corporate staff ahead of office switchThe department store chain has told corporate employees it wants them back in the office full-time when it moves to new headquarters in Melbourne next month.

Yet another reminder @albomp.bsky.social (as if you needed one) that the U.S. is a thoroughly unreliable ally. When are you going to stop sending our tax dollars to fund the complete boondoggle that is AUKUS?

Jon Cooper@joncooper-us.bsky.social

🚨BREAKING: Ukraine says the Starlink satellite system and its military version Starshield are again operating at high speeds after over a week of restrictions that disrupted military ‌operations. Problems with Elon Musk's SpaceX-owned systems came after Trump announced a deal to buy Russian diesel.

This is also terrible politics. Cancel this boondoggle @albomp.bsky.social and contract with one of our REAL allies for AIP submarines instead. Use the HUGE balance of funds released to accelerate the transition to renewable energy and to electrify freight/mining to eliminate our diesel dependency!

zecar.com/reviews/phev... This is a bit dated but highlights that incentives matter. PHEVs where the incentives are aligned typically do an okay job at reducing fuel usage. Where the incentives are moronic like in the case of European company car leases they don't.

zecar.comMost PHEV Owners Actually Plug In, Just Not in EuropeToyota research found PHEV owners charge 7 in 10 driving days. Australian data backs this up, but a European study of nearly 1 million vehicles paints a very different picture.

Even in the Australian study I would note it is a pain to claim your electricity costs on a PHEV novated lease (which most were until March 2025). You have to separately record the amount of electricity used and then apply your billed rate. Suspect some don't bother and just use petrol instead.

Hey @albomp.bsky.social is this another one of those values we share with the U.S.A? A deep admiration for one of the worst war criminals in history and an evil, evil murderous man?

afr.comPocock proposes 5pc tax on AI data centresIndependent senator David Pocock accused the Albanese government of being “starstruck” by the claims of artificial intelligence giants such as Anthropic and OpenAI.

Meanwhile @albomp.bsky.social and Marles are bankrupting Australia with the boondoggle that is AUKUS. Absolutely pathetic sycophancy that WILL live in infamy.

The United States is actively helping Putin murder civilians in Ukraine. Trump is doing everything he can to force Ukraine to surrender to his friend and ally Putin so they can be subjugated by the Russians again.

Hey @albomp.bsky.social is this another one of those shared values we have with the U.S? Happy to let rampant insider trading occur, probably because the people doing it are well connected...

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

Bloomberg:Career staff at CFTC concluded there was ample evidence to suggest that massive insider trading occurred on commodities transactions around specific points during the Iran War, and they referred the matter for enforcement. Then political appointees demanded that they retract the referrals.

One might think that a supposed ally abandoning a nation in need like this might make the Australian Government reconsider tying ourselves ever closer to the U.S... What do you say @albomp.bsky.social? Still smart to put all our eggs in one very unreliable basket?

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

Why Australia’s inflation shock may be creating its own cure www.afr.com/markets/debt... Not sure why this would be remotely controversial. It's completely obvious that this oil crisis is leading to an explosion of demand for EVs and renewables that will ultimately crush fossil energy prices.

afr.comWhy Australia’s inflation shock may be creating its own cureThe irony of persistent energy shocks is they increasingly create the conditions for their own eventual moderation.

www.afr.com/world/europe... When even the conservative business press in Australia is questioning the U.S. as an ally you would think Labor would rethink the utter boondoggle that is AUKUS. How about it @albomp.bsky.social? You going to even think about whether we should go ALL IN on the U.S???

Why high interest rates aren’t hurting households like they used to www.afr.com/policy/econo... Where does the AFR find these people. Interest rates are crunching spending. Discretionary spending that is. It's hard to cut your surging petrol costs, utility bills and grocery spending!

Hey @albomp.bsky.social is Australia going to say a peep here? Last time I checked we are a founding State Party to this Court (ratified 1 Sept 2002)? I mean obviously John Howard has more courage in his little finger than you, but surely this warrants a statement at least???
