Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology now specifies: 💡 It is strongly in favor of submissions which feature nonanimal methods (NAMs). 🚫 Animal-based validation of NAMs is not required.

Exciting news! 🥳 Under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief, Michael Coleman, Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology just updated its Aims and Scope to be more supportive of NAMs submissions—and hopefully help prevent #AnimalMethodsBias. 🔗 www.sciencedirect.com/journal/envi... #PeerReview

This is the 2nd journal to take action, following Toxicology & EiC Mathieu Vinken. bsky.app/profile/thec... They didn't make the same updates, but both address animal methods bias by expressing support for NAMs & clearly identifying areas where additional animal experiments are not required.

Exciting news‼️ Today, @elsevierconnect.bsky.social's journal Toxicology announced policy changes to help mitigate #AnimalMethodsBias during peer review. The changes are detailed in this piece by Editor-in-Chief Mathieu Vinken: doi.org/10.1016/j.to... Key changes listed below 🧵 ⤵️

“Because experiments on animals are embedded into institutional culture, adherence to this paradigm and hesitance to abandon it become the conservative norm in science.” - Drs. Emily R. Trunnell and Catharine E. Krebs #AcademicSky #PhDSky #PhilSci
