Mostly harmless. Maker of things. Do not add me to your starter pack. If your only interaction with me is to just repost something of mine, I'm going to block you. Don't be a dick.

I'm Dan! I'm a retired biochemist, doing pottery, textile arts, and woodworking (Gnomespun Ceramics/Gnomespun Yarn/Gnomewood Creations). I'm gay, ace, disabled, married, Army Vet with two fabulous Swedish Vallhunds that periodically give advice. I love to learn stuff about stuff. Currently in TN

The reason you close your eyes when you sneeze is so that material doesn't shoot through your tear ducts. Which can be very uncomfortable.

The only reason Checkov was a one-dimensional stereotype was because Shatner stole his lines and blocked his camera angles. Rest well, Walter. You were so much more.

Few things are as disturbing as an unmarked white panel van using your very short driveway to turn around. It had a 5 for a fleet mark, but no logo. My drive is one short of the actual corner. What the fuck.

Nobody wants to repeat Groundhog Day over and over. We want to repeat the Fun holiday. Halloween. Give us candy. Costumes. An excuse to stay out late in the moonlight. True escape. Joy.

Between redemption arcs and the decorating of architecture with dystopian designs, it feels we are being primed to give up. Give me back the 80s neon, the glitter, and rainbows. I'll be a damn sparklepunk if I need to. I want Joy and Hope.

Successfully distracted myself with a good paranormal cosy romance. I read Haunted Ever After by Jen DeLuca, and today I got my hands on the sequel Ghost Business. It's another trip to the haunted town of Boneyard Key, Florida, and yes, my dear tourists, the longer you stay, the more you learn...

Ghosts are real. So are hurricanes and bisexuals. The ghost business itself is ghost tours. One person tells the true ghost stories, the newbie some shit he makes up.

It's important, I feel, to get the stories right- what the ghosts themselves want shared. Versus just saying shit to make a buck. And this book deals with that issue politely from a safe distance.

Tonight's paranormal investigation featured D and myself hearing a thing in separate room. I said I'd sit there a bit to pinpoint the sound. Realized it was the clink of a few batteries against the wall. I assume they weren't supposed to be there so I picked them up. All quiet after that.

No, we didn't leave the batteries to start with, but true they didn't belong. Nobody else had been near that room. So I don't know.

I have picked a logical place to put beads in a traditionally non beaded scarf and have the terrible haunting feeling that it will end up looking like a cloak of Georgia O'Keefes. Lyrata by Nim Teasdale.

Often if you add a bead at the juncture of elements, it adds emphasis. So wherever there's k2tog purl ssk, or join three together, I'm placing a bead on that purl or join. I won't know until I block it how it will look, because I hate swatching for shawls.

I spent part of my time today trying to find out how to legally dispose of expired narcan, and just got into trouble for it. Yes, my office hands kits out. But I didn't get my kit from us. And I want to know how I, private citizen, can legally dispose of it.

The county drug take back program cannot take injectables or liquids. Narcan is a liquid. And I don't want to put it in the landfill.

My ears hurt. I have been reassured now on several occasions that they are not infected, but they are not normal. They've felt like this more than a month. Naturally the doc wants me to wait longer before doing further testing. .... /stares/

/wakes two hours before alarm goes off/ If I get up now, I could walk on the dreadmill or knit a few rows before work! /opens phone/ /stares for two hours/

Stupid anxiety. Dental appt this week. If I didn't self impose limits on the meds, I could maybe sleep better, but I've seen what can happen when one relies on them too much.

It's one thing to ask myself to focus on what I can change in this moment... another thing entirely to actually do this in the wee hours, when the world looms in the darkness.

The cleaners rearranged my freezer. Found some thin mints. Only Himself hid thin mints in the freezer. Eating them anyway. I can cry about it later.

The hardest part... the fun part ... about making the bed is getting a comfy lie down between layers. My bed is against the corner, so I keep crawling all over it with a little rest.
