#HamOnt Friends - do you want to Talk Trustees? I'm doing an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on the Hamilton Sub-reddit to talk about my candidacy for HWDSB Trustee Wards 8 &14 - next Tuesday October 20th 7:30-9:30 PM. Power up those ⌨️and join me - Trustees remain a vital link in our communities!

"It's *getting* nasty"? Friend, you and your crew have been slinging mud since before I was even old enough to vote. Y'all spent the better part of last year trying to get me fired from a part time gig because I had the audacity to critique you. Your candidate played in a grey area. Get over it.

Big shift for a "paper" that launched with the goal of presenting "hopefully fairly, news and commentary of interest to the great community of Hamilton/Burlington." Prolific commenter "Kim" previously used the anti-Semitic dogwhistle "cultural Marxists" to refer to similar "groups".

No new Incline today, but definitely check out the CBC Hamilton coverage of the 2026 #HamOnt municipal election. Highly recommended for staying up-to-date with the state of the races across the city!

Doug Ford's government uses a lot of "D" words to justify their actions. But they're undermining the most important “D” word of them all - democracy. #onpoli #ontpoli (Totally forgot to post this yesterday when it was published, but here's a gift link to my latest in The Spec: tinyurl.com/533jm9rm)

Of the 620 comments on the #HamOnt Jamesville MZO that were deemed acceptable to publish, the breakdown is: Pro MZO → 88.9% Anti-MZO → 5.5% Mixed* → 5.6% * mixed, meaning generally supportive, but with requests to adjust what is approved or focus more on affordable/supportive housing

The Jamesville (405 James Street North Hamilton) Minister's Zoning Order is now posted to the ERO. The Province received over 700 comments on the MZO. #HamOnt #yhmcc #onmuni ero.ontario.ca/notice/025-0...

Notables? → Many pro comments mentioned the mayor (positively), the need for affordable housing in #HamOnt, and displeasure at CN Rail → Many con comments negatively referenced Ward 2 Councillor Cameron Kroetsch, the density on the site, increased traffic, and the Barton/Tiffany Temporary Shelter

While a group of very loud opponents campaigned against the MZO as a way of renegotiating the Jamesville redevelopment, the public comments clearly indicate they were a very small minority driven by traditional "homeowner" concerns and opposition to the current council. Will make 2026 interesting!
