It’s wild to think that the absolute best shot at stopping the Brewers went away in the NLDS when a would-be bomb of a home run bounced off of a ceiling beam.

You can tell me this is just food coloring or something all you want. If I took a bite I'm absolutely expecting some terrible flavor in this bun.

What are your favorite Halloween-related fast food promotions? (Toys, giveaways, collectibles, etc)

The Brewers have just felt inevitable since like early September. Not a team of destiny, but a team of inevitability. They gradually choke the life out of teams like a boa constrictor.

This is a wild quote, I love it

Jason Lieser: Bears coach Ben Johnson on the failed Joe Thuney run play last night: “Shooters shoot. We shot and we missed. Keep it moving.”

Sometimes you have to actually watch the game, man. Come on with this stuff. Ben Volin, what are we even doing at this point?

It's important for all of football – no, all of the world – for the Bears to beat the Patriots tonight with a big game from Caleb Williams.

Caleb Williams was unnecessarily defensive in his availability today. Uncharacteristically sharp and short. I love it. He's dying to get out there.

Next question

I might have to write something on this to fully get out this idea, but I think there is a growing difference between what CFP decision makers and national media think is best for college football and what college football fans actually want to see. TLDR: college football fans usually like chaos

Just another example of the Cubs missing expectations

Add “get short dudes” to the incomplete list of Moneyball type edges the Brewers & Rays (and Guardians really) have benefited from in the past decade-plus (free article) www.nytimes.com/athletic/768...

There is no need to put the Colts-Titans game on TV even in Indiana.

The Bears defense has the chance of being so bad I'm not even mad that Sweat got popped for using PEDs. At least he was trying to help the problem

It feels like Dolan and the New York GOP didn't learn a thing from last summer. These people are idiots and I'm glad they are burning their money.

Noah Shachtman@noahshachtman.bsky.social

Looks like the $3 million + that James Dolan raised for pro-surveillance gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman wasn't enough. Dolan is holding a $10K/head fundraiser for him at MSG, per the @nypost.com. At a Knicks pre-season game.

Are we our own company yet?

Get in front of every analytics person in every organization and show them how many outs are wasted purely on bad slides. Make up a stat called Slides Against Fielder Efficiency (SAFE) and ask for my money.

First game after Walter Payton's death was at Lambeau. First game after Mike Ditka's death will be at Lambeau. Just the way it should be.

I don't know what meeting is going on at Halas Hall right now, but the Bears haven't said anything publicly about Ditka yet. I'd imagine, given his age, they had plenty of stuff ready to go, but nothing has been published on social or on the website. The Saints have beat them to the punch.

His personality and success as a coach overshadows how revolutionary he was as a tight end. Ditka was a Hall of Fame player before he ever put on the sweater vest.

Mike Ditka had his FLAWS. But to have him pass two days before the Packers game. Booooy if you believe in such things, the Monsters are coming.

Have the Cubs traded Matt Shaw yet? Lots of promise in the bag of baseballs they'd get in return for his utility ass. Can't happen soon enough.

I’m convinced I could make it to at least the final five contestants in a Great British Baking Show by just making back of the box recipes.

Watching two extremely stuffy Brits grade American-style cookies made by a group of confused English people feels like a personal insult.

I love the concept of a punter celebrating after potentially drawing a roughing penalty. “Hell yeah! I just got my shit rocked!”

Is AI telling these playcallers to run fades on fourth and medium? I’ve seen it at least three times today and it failed each time into double coverage

That wasn’t an inaccurate pass by Alessio, it was late. He threw it in the right window, the ball just needed to be out sooner.

These BTN broadcasters are awful. The PBP guy twice showed he doesn’t get forward progress and the analyst referenced PFF.
