Every private sector funding needs to be available for comparison with public sector, without the ability to hide behind commercial sensitivity. If you're getting public funding, the public funding you is entitled to know the numbers. If you don't want to disclose you can fuck off. #nzpol

#nzpol Voting outside your electorate question The young one surprised us & came home for the long weekend. He's registered to vote in Dunedin. As he's working in Napier for the next 2 weeks, can he cast a special vote on Monday while he's here?

With fresh experience of our son buying his first home, with $71k income, reducing the deposit would have dramatically reduced borrowing capacity to a very limiting level. At 5% he wouldn't be able to buy anything. So again, this isn't a policy aimed at those who already have & the banks. #nzpol

Rob✅✅@robdickinson.bsky.social

What jobs are these people going to have? What houses can they affords without jobs on a 5% mortgage And when they get a job they are getting low pay and having to fund a kiwisaver at 4% or whatever? I am sure the ~40% of young people are hyped about no new taxes #Nzpol

Simeon Brown is 100% correct. That is why he should pay at least 5% more in income tax, whatever % in CGT and 2.5% wealth tax. Just because a policy is made universal to make it easy on admin costs, doesn't mean it will actually be free for those at the top. #nzpol

"I don't know why I need to have a free GP visit." - Simeon Brown on Labour's 3 free doctors visits There we have it folks. The #ButMillionaires argument distilled by Simeon Brown; if he doesnt need it, no one does. This is targeting determined by the well-paid...(1) www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

We need to stop talking about the need to grow the pie. The pie is fucking growing or you will not boast the 2.8% increase in GDP. We need to start asking how much of the pie do the top 1% get, the top 10% and how much the lower 50% get. Women can tell you that size doesn't matter. #nzpol

#nzpol Shane Jones pompous Drill Baby Drill is a lot of nonsense as even if we find oil it takes 16 years before it reaches the tank in your car. But the ban on new permits was also performative nonsense. No one will ask for a new permit knowing what the industry knows about NZ (there's no oil!)

#nzpol Instead the govt could have just started a transition to solar and by now we would have been in a much better position. When the left gets to be govt again, please leave the performative alone and just get on with the job of covering our roof tops with solar.

Oh, please do fuck off Ramsey. Poverty is ultimately a mathematical reflection of NOT ENOUGH MONEY. #nzpol #TaxTheBillionairesOutofExistence

Well said, Jon Stewart. Maybe the pseudo economist would advise against the “frivolous” expense of groceries, gas and healthcare.

This is why the Greens are being attacked in the media. They are the definition of "the marketplace of ideas" and not "the marketplace of what money can buy" and the CoC can't stand it. Vote accordingly. #nzpol

Put in the context of @greens.org.nz having 85% less funding than ACT that their popularity is double & their election campaign is slaying it. Phenomenally positive & pragmatic campaign.

Same one who is head of a charter school? oh, the corruption they keep... #nzpol

Fucking idiot. Putting the Greens between a rock & a hard place. If they buckle because they don't want the cruelty back in charge they'd lose support they work so hard to gain, if they walk away he will blame them for the cruelty back in charge. #nzpol

Huia Sue@huiasue.bsky.social

#Hipkins needs to go. He’s doing Labour no favours. We NEED #Greens fair #tax system, where the richest 4% pay 2.5% more OVER $160,000pa & $10million wealth (excluding family home), & 96% pay less. #Inequality & #austerity are killing NZers #nzpol #PartyVoteGreen✅

Considering Nats are polling so low their entire front bench of list MPs will be gone, who exactly do they have to take on the big portfolios? And it's not like ACT or NZF have any depth amongst them either. #nzpol

#nzpol #leadersdebate Well done Rawiri Waititi for saying it as it is, the Māori Health Authority was asked to turn around health outcomes for Māori in less than a year, something the general system failed to do in 180 years!

Big ups to BHN for having Q on and asking her the tough questions about her naivety and her deputies allegiance to National. This was the most painful interview I've watched in a long time, an absolute train wreck in some of her answers. Fuck centrism. #nzpol youtu.be/276NcZm7G8k?...

Maybe we should give tax a new name. We can even give it an acronym, like maybe Return On Investment or ROI. Will it make it less of a juvenile mud slinging contest? #nzpol

Ratan Prakash@rprakash08.bsky.social

Why have so many politicians turned 'TAX' into a dirty word? The loudest complainers are happy to use all the services and infrastructure that taxes pay for. Rob Campbell always on point. #nzpol #tax #election26 #nzpolitica newsroom.co.nz/2026/10/12/a...

It was obvious to anyone paying a bit of attention that Opp will abandon the tax policy to start with, as Q said this was a long-term goal. Without a change to the tax system, there can not be any other change. #nzpol

The US crossed the moral event horizon long ago and now approaches a singularity of depravity. A public execution only serves as a demonstration of state power. It is not justice, it's fascism. Our own government is far too obsequious in pandering to merchants of filth and death like this. #nzpol

#nzpol Luxon is still lying. His own minister was cornered in the house to admit they only hired 54 nurses in 2 years. The debate isn't parliament, Jack Tame, you can ask him why he's lying.

I hope Labour & Greens voters in Epsom have heard Goldsmith saying he would love to be an electorate MP & will vote for him. I know that will mean returning a white supremacist to parliament, but it will remove the smirk on Seymour face & probably remove Willis from parliament. #nzpol

Since we are so captured by defining the right size of govt as 30% of GDP, the solution is to increase GDP. But how do you do that in a tough economic climate? Easy. Add into the GDP calcularion all the free work (mostly) women do. There's billions of $ there. #nzpol

I think Craig Renney would agree with Seymour here. We should exempt the interest earned in Kiwisaver from tax to get the compounding effect and tax it as income when it is withdrawn. The only positive policy ACT has is one the stole from a socialist 🤣 #nzpol

Katya@nzkatya.bsky.social

Hayden Donnell description of ACT's campaign launch makes me wonder whether their support is waning somewhat. Hope it is anyway #nzpol

That's $4.5b that would be circulating in the economy. Bring it on! #nzpol

Peter Green@petergreen.bsky.social

Worth remembering that if it costs the government $4.5b to reverse the gender pay tax, then it costs the women affected $4.5b to leave it in place.

Which religious values are we talking about? Because the current Christian fundies get a big fail on the most basic value - look after the volunerable. Side note. If you need a religion to tell you what you should value, perhaps you need a more in-depth look at yourself. #nzpol

kiwivalues.nz@kiwivalues.nz

Should public schools teach religious values? Both groups lean no, but not by the same amount. ACT voters disagree firmly at -0.6. NZ First voters barely disagree at -0.1, close to neutral. https://kiwivalues.nz/research/act-and-nz-first/ 7/14 #nzpol

I want my hard earned tax I pay to go towards raising benefits, properly funding the health system, building schools, hospitals & PT, electrification and raising incomes of those most in need. I also know where I don't want my tax to go towards Mr rich & sorted. #nzpol

I am looking for a washing machine for the son who's spreading his wings. What can I say, the free market and its much touted competition is working so good that every single store is offering the same machine for exactly the same price. Third supermarket chain, anyone? #nzpol

@chrishipkins.bsky.social Remove this guy and put Craig Renney in his spot. #nzpol

Good grief. The hubris of the man. We have the worst govt in my memory and we have bloke that can’t even be bothered coming home to campaign?? Is Labour so divorced from peoples lives that they think we deserve this? He and the Labour Leader aren’t even on the same page. #nzpol
