Finished Parable of the Sower. It was one of the best books I read this year. When Butler wants the prose to throw a punch, it says how hard. The themes felt in conversation with Grapes of Wrath in a really evocative way, adding a black perspective to them Go read it already #booksky

#AwesomeCharacters In the moment, it’d be Lyn. She tends to be pretty impulsive and not always in good ways. Long term, it could only be Desta. She keeps up a public face so effectively she sometimes believes it’s the real her, so no one knows what she’s actually thinking, not even Lyn and Ana

The best thing about social media is when a new fire emblem game is out, and I can take a break from playing it to see my feed flooded with fanart and memes about it, and people aren’t even spoiling it, it’s great

#AwesomeCharacters Lyn plays the guitar she modeled and 3D printed as a kid Leo hangs out at his bars to talk to regulars Natalia goes to concerts (Lyn and Desta’s group was her favorite) and gets involved with fan communities online Sophia picks up whatever looks interesting in the moment

#AwesomeCharacters So everyone in my main cast is a pretty squishy human, so the relevant punches would be hacking brain implants, which means Takumi hands down if he was on his own, but he does that background work for Natalia to work in the field, so she can tank the biggest threats

#AwesomeCharacters Just one in my current WIP. Lyn is currently figuring out her sexuality as some range of demi bi. Leo experimented with men at one point, so he might be slightly biromantic, but he’s heterosexual

#AwesomeCharacters If it was Desta, I’d hear her out first, but I’d be pretty worried to hear it from anyone else. We’d probably get out of it with Leo or Natalia, but it’d be messy

#AwesomeCharacters I’m writing dystopian sci fi, so pretty much for every character, the worst is yet to come, though that doesn’t mean there won’t be happy moments to come as well

#AwesomeCharacters This one is actually kinda hard because animals aren’t really around in my setting the way they are in our world So I guess based on temperament, animals would love Sophia. Leo would probably feed stray cats if they were around
