I finally got around to messing around with that DLSS 5 injector after hearing a bunch of people say it doesn't mess with the underlying models in RE9 as much now, and... I don't know guys, I think I found where they put all the yass.

I'll say it's very accurate lighting compared to early demos, but the character is off-model, the debug tools to tweak it seem down to a straight blend with the base model and for the performance cost you could probably get all that nice ambient occlussion and GI from path tracing.

It's not that crazy, they already support hot-swapping libraries from SD cards. That's not enough by itself (you probably need a ROM storage solution with a way to dynamically apply patches from disk, the way the consoles do), but it's likely solvable.

OK, so on Linux it at least flips to simulating a 360 controller when you launch things through Heroic (presumably because Proton tells it to even outside of Steam). Still no easy way to login unless your distro has an on-screen keyboard or is using Game Mode, and the Steam button is still dead.

This is from like an hour of use, so it's all pretty obvious. I'm kinda shocked at how many of these things were not surfaced in reviews. I have yet to try it in my Linux desktop, so I'll do that next, but for now... maybe this just waits to see if I do get a Steam Machine at some point.

With this I'm positive that it's much smooth sailing if you use Game Mode on compatible hardware, though. So again, a much better Steam Machine controller than PC controller. Launching ahead of the Steam Machine would have been a major mistake if the Valve PR distortion field wasn't so strong.

As it stands, I think for now this will live on my Linux desktop to temporarily replace my 8bitDo Ultimate (because I prefer a dpad on top layout, if nothing else). For my TV-top Nvidia box it's still third party or DualSense. I would strongly discourage buying this for a Windows setup.

OK, got my hads on a Steam controller, and first impressions? This thing is a TERRIBLE Windows controller. It's probably a great Steam Machine controller, it's well built and functional, but it is just about the least compatible device with Windows support I own.

It's also magnetic on the front, which makes it want to flip itself around with the help of the USB cable's tension and stick itself contacts-first to the nearest ferromagnetic surface (in my case my computer case). I don't know if it'll short itself out, but I'd rather not find out.

Once you're inside Steam the touchpad-as-mouse stops working by default. You're now stuck to controller inputs even if you haven't mapped the touchpads to anything else. Just... why?

The puck is surprisingly impractical. Unlike 8bitDo's docks, which come with a USB receiver housed inside a dock, you can't split the connectivity and charging functionality, so the idea is for the controller to charge wired to your box. This works on desktop, but not so much for Home Theater mode.

Just a few things I've noticed on a first test run: It won't let you punch in your Windows PIN without bringing up the on-screen accessibility keyboard and using it as a mouse. If you have the Windows Xbox mode, every other controller can use the buttons as a keypad.

Once you're in Big Picture there seems to be no way to pass Windows/Xbox a guide button input. The Steam button is married to Steam. You can in theory pass a Win key, which is different, but I haven't been able to make that work, either. Quitting Steam is the only way to leave that layer I've found.

If there's an argument against this it's that a lot of stuff is going to get flattened to the same rating based on monetization even when the content is radically different. There may be a case for separate content and mtx ratings here, but it's debatable. Plus PEGI comes with content icons.

I didn't see too many people make this connection, but it's super obvious. That Spidey pose in particular is so specific. It's weird how low profile the SNES Capcom Marvel demakes are. I remember them being a big deal to me when I stumbled upon them via emulators in the late 90s.
