At my estimate I’d still have over $150k. Solar panels, I guess? Then I think either buy debt to forgive or start doing work for a neighbor’s house. Sure travel, sure a second house, but reality, nah. If I had to make a plan to use up $1m pretty quickly, I’d hit giving it away.

Still got over half the money. For safety let’s put $300k in some easy to access something earning some interest. That could cover real estate taxes. I’d still be left with over $200k. I’d do needed work to my car and house. I’ve got body work, foundation stuff, roof repairs, and a few others.

I’m not big on the stock market, especially now, but I’d want to invest a big chunk of the money, so maybe real estate. Since I’m not about to become a big landlord, say I buy one single family place near me that I could subdivided into 2 rentals. It’s could do that for $400k.

First and foremost debt paid off. I’ve got a not great percentage of debt to income, but also less than many. I’d still have over 90% of the funds. So now total discretionary spending.

Exercise, possibly only of interest to me. What would $1M windfall look like to a peon, like me. Brought on by the Ms and Bs being discussed by the goons in charge.

Life in cubicles: Which is worse, the coworker who narrates all their activity OR the coworker who mutters complaints about every task/person they have to engage with? I hold that any audible self-talk in a cube environment should be actionable by duct tape or corporate discipline.
