Iβve recently finished a number of commissions and felt it was time to make something for my own enjoyment.
#Tyrannosaurus is always a joy.

The retro skin flap is inspired by findings from Sereno et al. (2026), showing hadrosaur soft tissue ornamentation could be much more diverse than anticipated.
Here's a T. Rex bored to death trying to bite their own tail. My partner asked me to animate it in stop motion, after she watched a video about the very important topic of "could T. Rex chew its own tail like a dog". The puppet is still a work in progress π¦

All it takes is one individual to shake things up.
A well-known grey whale known as Little Patch, is back feeding in British Columbia for the second time this year, with whale watchers saying its winter appearance marks a change in its normal migration pattern. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
I donβt want to generate or receive an email, document, manuscript, PowerPoint deck, post it note, grocery list, novel, film, or hit list that has been generated with AI.
I write because I love writing. I love writing even when I'm struggling with a writing problem that is killing me. Finding a way through that problem is both intensely rewarding and also helps me become a better writer. There is no reason for me to ever outsource that.
I need to finish all episodes of the new Walking with Dinosaurs, but so far itβs got quite a range of highs and lows.
And alsoβ¦chat, is there perhaps a faint echo of a paintpaddock piece in contemporary paleomedia?
Introducing Mosura fentoni, a new radiodont from the #BurgessShale.

This #fossil species has 3 eyes, spiny claws, wing-shaped swimming flaps, and a unique abdomen-like body region.
Many of my colleagues view the story and fate of #Keiko the orca as a failure. I think this underplays the effort and hard work of many smart, passionate people.
We learned a lot about cetacean rehabilitation. Keiko got the dignity of passing away in his home waters, far from his tiny tank.

Ellen is joined by paleoartist and marine biologist @thepaintpaddock.bsky.social for a review of the ancient giants that towered over the late Jurassic world: Brachiosaurus! Check it out wherever you get podcasts!
I know weβre tired of the politics talk, but I just need to rant.
International friends, stop accusing every American you meet as being complicit in Trumpβs bullshit. This happened to me in Australia & I had no real outlet for it at the time, and now Iβm seeing it happen increasingly to others.
I had to explain to this woman at a /marine biology conference/ that I didnβt vote for Trump. Why do I need to apologize for the stupidity of over half of the voting body? Iβm working in conservation and education every fucking day.
JUST OUT!!! Happy to announce my first publication, coauthored with @davehone.bsky.social, Tim Gomes, and Joseph Peterson. Meet Infernodrakon hastacollis - a new name for the azhdarchid from the Hell Creek Formation! Life restoration by @jhemiptera.bsky.social
Scientists are now organizing events, called Stand Up for Science, on 7 March in Washington, D.C., and state capitals.

With an overwhelming amount of submissions, your donations for the #ArtemisPaleozoo's first Bug-Off Valentine's Fundraiser were a smashing success! Raising upwards of $10,000, we are thankful for the many (and we mean many) names our guest's submitted. πͺ±π
Happy Valentine's Day! β€οΈ
So glad for people to get to see some of the animals I've spent the past couple of years looking after! I had the wonderful opportunity to design the looks of many of the species, and have worked on each animal in detail across the VFX process.
Walking with Dinosaurs premieres later in 2025!
Hi new followers! I love creating illustrations and infographics to share information, especially when it comes to killer whales. Here is a recent one I made covering killer whales of the Gulf
of Mexico (and thatβs the only name Iβll ever call it π)
#Olorotitan joins the paddock! This hadrosaur had a distinct, hatchet-shaped crest that was probably used for visual display and sound production. #sciart#paleoart#dinosaur
in 2022 i made two posters of #fossil prehistoric creatures discovered in #mexico, one with colorations based on endemic wildlife and another with #alebrije colorations
