I have some quibbles with the story and how some characters were coded. It wasn't as good as Kubo or Coraline, but... the animation itself was gorgeous and you should go see it. Now that I have, I switch my anticipation to what Guillermo del Toro & ShadowMachine will do with The Buried Giant.

Just saw Laika at the Bagdad. I'm also pretty sure that in the 2d animation credit sequence, that's also where the Decemberists are performing.

The thing about this is that it's a non-issue. Alaska has ranked choice voting. Want to vote for Sullivan, but confused as to which Dan Sullivan is which? Just rank them #1 and #2. It would only be an issue if one of the Dan Sullivans win (and the other claims it should be them).

One thing that makes Taskmaster work is that the 5 contestants (+ hosts) means that a lot of comedy styles can be covered. So regardless your sense of humor something will probably work. For example: Last season was drudgerous, this one is great. Plenty of people think the opposite.

I love the dynamic on Taskmaster this series, with three contestants in open rebellion in the studio.

My favorite recent behind-the-scenes story is that Rik Mayall (of The Young Ones) was cast in a minor role in one of the boy wizard films. He hated the script and spent his first day of filming trying (and succeeding) to make the kid actors corpse.

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

My review of Navigating With You was pretty much about how reading a story about two teenagers easily modeling behavior adults find difficult was an emotional balm.

I say this all the time. Wish fulfilment in comics is a lot more than just power fantasies.

My only comment is that the Lost Canadian bill is about citizenship, not immigration (we are Canadians) and the Hon. Min. Diab has made a shambles of the implementation of C-3 far beyond cancelling proofs (the most egregious example, but just the tip of the iceberg).

Jenny Kwan@jennykwan.bsky.social

Minister Diab’s total lack of leadership and basic knowledge of Canada’s refugee framework is hurting families, exacerbating processing delays, and undermining our immigration system. Prime Minister Carney must fire Minister Diab immediately—our immigration system needs a reset.

I grew up exposed to multiple accents just in my community, let alone ones from travel and summer camp. I kinda use bitsa alladem. I'll add eh, no or yo to the end of sentences (the latter less since leaving NY) consistent w/dialects, but inconsistently to myself.

I really cannot take those dialect quizzes because I’ve got a sort of Schrödinger’s accent where things like the way I say “route” changes based on context that I don’t understand so if I start thinking about which one is “natural” my brain completely misfires
