Would have completed a game winning drive on no sleep for 36 hours and a blood clot, if not for shit special teams. That’s a measure of the guy. Let me never hear Jalen Hurts slander ever again. Period.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-va... All Saints don’t get nearly the praise they deserve and even when they do, this song often slips the net, yet its absolutely sublime. Trip-hoppy, soulful vocals, so well put together. A proper underrated 90s classic.

Well, that was an eventful shopping trip. Heard a crash in Sainsbury’s & a woman had gone over on her mobility scooter. Thankfully she was just shaken up not hurt. We got her back up & ensured her daughter coming to collect her & shopping looked after by staff to ensure it didn’t happen again.

She told me I “could be her son any time,” which yeah, makes you know you’ve helped and made a difference. Good to see how many people got involved and helped. Store staff were great to.

The big question today. How much of a car crash is this blog by the SoA going to be? Let's be honest here, anything other than completely walking it back is going to be bad. But the question remains, HOW bad are they going to make this?

And to repeat, the only ethical use of generative AI is to never use it all. It has stolen from creatives. It takes money out of the hands of other people in our ecosystem. The whole thing is so massively damaging to our industry, which is already incredibly hard to make a living from.

It's International Hoodie Day (according to the marketing emails in my inbox) a day that I have been celebrating near daily for the last 20 years or so. Seriously, if any piece of clothing deserves a day, it's the hoodie.

I might write about conspiracy theories and so on, but I'm not really subscribed to them as such, HOWEVER, how the fuck do you drop the ball on search warrants on what will be without doubt, the SINGLE HIGHEST PROFILE CASE YOU'LL EVER DO? Was it always meant to fail?

Being middle aged, I do watch what I eat these days. Treats are limited. A lot of things are bland and boring. As it’s proper autumn now, I’ve just treated myself to a mocha and a couple of Borders biscuits, and I don’t think I’ve been this happy in a long time.

Join me on Monday over on the UK Crime Book Club where I'll be talking with the author Mark Ezra about his novels, including his latest thriller, A Nest of Wasps.

I do the newsletter because I genuinely want to help authors find their market. But there are some lines I won't cross. AI is one of them. It's theft. I can't and won't platform you if you choose that side. #CrimeFiction

As a Nuneaton fan I’ve a lot of experience of crooked owners of football clubs who think they’re capable of beating the rules. More than most I’d wager. So despite my Utd leanings, I’ve a lot of sympathy for those City fans who are suffering because of this.

To say to everyone “this is what happens when owners are left unchecked.” To mandate fan ownership. It wouldn’t be a perfect solution, but it would add so many extra layers of accountability and it only ever needs one conscience to stop this sort of shit…

So whilst I think the club should be punished severely so, I feel for the fans who will suffer, who know their club did wrong & whose anger is directed at those who betrayed their dreams & the authorities who sat back & let owners do what they wanted because it made the league money. #ManchesterCity

But you have to have a distance from those at the top. I’ve always maintained that those who want to run football clubs are either insane or crooks. My experience has not changed that…

The only true way for clubs to be run is true fan representation. It’s the greatest antidote to this sort of bollox. And what’s happening in different forms at numerous other clubs. The football authorities have a real chance here to draw a line in the sand…

Not the ones who are still buying the club line. That sort of blindness is what gets football clubs into these places. The love you have for your team is something that’s hard to explain. It’s irrational. It’s all consuming. It’s incredible highs and awful lows. It’s somehow worth it…
