The EU is currently writing the Circular Economy Act, this should be a win for a more sustainable future. 🔎 But there's an issue: repair and reuse are nowhere to be found. We're calling on the European Parliament and EU Member States to put repair and reuse first in the Circular Economy Act.

In July, we sent Andy Burnham a letter. We wanted to remind him how repair and reuse can save people money, skill up young people and support local businesses. Of course it also helps us do our bit for the climate 💚 We're not alone; nearly 1 in 4 MPs already support our #RepairReuseDeclaration.

But now we need MPs to ask the Prime Minister to act. Can you ask your MP to do this today? Every message helps build the base of support needed to make policy happen. And sending one takes less than a minute using our ready-to-go email tool. 📝 therestartproject.org/campaigns/re...

📱 Four in five smartphone model records failed our EU repair-information check. We reviewed 2,334 records in the EU’s official EPREL database. Only 18% clearly led consumers to the required repair information. Almost half left the relevant fields blank.

We talk a lot about how essential it is to repair our things. But something we don’t talk about enough, is how important it is to maintain our gadgets. Jérôme Denis, co-author of the book, The Care of Things: Ethics and Politics of Maintenance, joins us to talk about how it can emancipate us. 🧰

For our blog, Keith Brady has stepped in to share some invaluable insights from Repair Cafe Gosport for repair groups who want to engage their MP in campaigning for repair and reuse ✊️

"One of the best pieces of advice I have had professionally is “never ask a senior person a question; give them something obvious to say yes to”. So when asking your MP to support your repair group, make sure you know in advance why they will say yes." 🔗 therestartproject.org/get-involved...

repair.euFixers are warming up for Repair Day across the globeWith 6 weeks to go, International Repair Day (October 17) feels like it’s right around the corner. So, we thought we’d share some inspiration and ways to get involved.

Andy Burnham has laid out plans to put vocational skills on the same level as academics. We know a good candidate 📚️ Our #RepairReuseDeclaration calls for measures that could not only help young people access jobs, but support existing repair businesses who are struggling to keep up with demand 🔧

We have sent a letter to our new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham asking him to implement policies that will save money for the public and reduce our e-waste mountain 🏔️ We know that repair and reuse is popular with both politicians and the public

158 MPs have signed the #RepairReuseDeclaration which calls on policies to ensure that repair is accessible and affordable, and that reusing our finite resources becomes the norm 🔧 The policies we're asking for include: 💷 Zero VAT on repair services, and spare parts 🧰 Funding for Repair Vouchers

#RepairDay is our annual chance to celebrate repair 🔧 If you have something planned to mark the occasion, add it to the map now And if you need some inspiration for how you could get involved, explore our toolkit It's all at RepairDay.org 🚀
