The Séance

Shelves have been built here and so many many books unboxed, some unseen for five years or more. Will throw some up on this ongoing, with or without comment. An oldest first, and dearest.

The Séance will gather at nine for its Hallowe'en summoning as conducted via @slackcityradio.bsky.social Spectral sounds, baleful invocations, eldritch emanations for the thinning of the veil. www.slackcity.org.uk/ 21.00

His best, imho. Uniquely disquieting.

Clive Barker's "In the Hills, The Cities" very much reads like an outsized response to Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery". Discuss.

Two new things at vinepress.co.uk the Lost Occult Books of Victor Neuburg: these ltd-ed silkscreen prints of a drawing Austin Osman Spare made in 1915; & a zine of Neuburg's long-lost Sussex writing, incl this piece on English fairy lore, to go free with every book if we meet our stretch target!

A whole day spent in the 2007 DL retrospective in Paris. The photography, the massive canvases, early paintings & drawings, doodles on Post-it notes, napkins etc. Watched all the shorts in a replica Eraserhead theatre. The book’s a stunner & comes with a CD of himself talking you through it all.
