www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricke... this is a strange article (also poorly written). Just let Stokes enjoy the end of his career. He's obviously happy playing back for Durham so leave him be (slight bias being a Durham fan from me though!) #cricket #Durham

bbc.co.ukBen Stokes: What next for the former England captain after tumultuous summer ended with success? After concluding the county summer with Durham and the end of his England central contract, what is in store for Ben Stokes?

Update! This week we started drilling wheat. This involves buying the seed, then drilling it & waiting about 10 months for it to grow...not knowing how much it will cost us to grow, how much will grow & how much it will be worth at the end of it all! I think this is a definition of madness!

Well done! Been a brilliant season following from afar. Looking forward to Division 1 next season!

Farming update! Has everyone planted their daffodils in the garden yet? If not why?! Get them in! We'll have finished planting ours in the field tomorrow, had to dodge some rain showers & mechanical issues last week. Busiest time of year for me at the moment! #ukfarming #farming #daffodils

Farming update! Feels like autumn doesn't it! Had a few days off this week...which explains the rain. Means we can get on with some field prep work now. Going to be a busy week ahead on the tractor. All the daffodils are graded, just a few tonne to be sold & another season done until planting time!

Weekly farming update! It's been awhile sorry! Harvest is complete, results so so, better quality than expected. Current job is daffodil bulb grading/cleaning which is quite frankly the worst job on the farm! It's hot, dusty & bloody tedious! But at least the bulbs are dry! Oh & it needs to rain!!

Morning everyone! Rather than a weekly farm update (bloody busy!) I'm on the combine all day today so opening it up to a bit of a Q&A for anyone who has any farming questions? (Or anything in general if you like?!). No vblog answers like some farmers on social media sorry! Cos I need to concentrate!

Just got home from work as today I've finished prepping the combine and trailers etc as tomorrow we go harvesting (hopefully)!!! This is also the very earliest we've have ever combined wheat! #farming #agriculture #Britishfarming

Weekly update! Late because basically been at work all weekend & only just got home! Bulbs are all up just need to grade a trailer load tomorrow! Spent yesterday prepping the combine! Looking like starting end of next week. Today been chopping up the cauliflower field ready for next crop.

Are we letting the kids stay up for the football Monday morning?! Nope ! (Cricket over football in this house) but did we let them stay up late last night to see the pea liners turn up to so the peas?!! Too right we did! This is the weekly farming update by the way! #UKfarming #farming #peas

Weekly farming update! First variety of daffodils lifted this week. All gone really well (mockers on the rest of them now!), won't take much drying in this weather! Personally don't like it this hot, fortunately had good air con in the tractor & Test Match Special on radio! Cooler tomorrow though!

Weekly farming update! A bit late as a busy weekend (family trip to see Toy Story today!). Plus I've been in a grump over the Test match today! Anyway tomorrow is the big day! Day one of daffodil bulb harvest! Everything is set to go!! Staff booked, tractors on machinery, grading machines set up!

There's a reason to why UK agriculture & horticulture employ migrant workers over local Brits & it's not down to cheap pay (they get paid really well actually)...maybe someone at Reform should come for a days work on a farm!

Weekly farming update! Everyone's weeds growing well after all the rain?! Another quiet ish week, wheat is look reasonably decent, still think it will be an early harvest. Got hire tractor coming next week ready for daffodil bulb harvest..no doubt more buttons & screens that I won't need!

You can it's a wet day as I've spent it in the office having arguments on X with idiots about migrants & why they are needed for agriculture work. And what a suprise that those wanting to 'send them back home' suddenly go quiet when I ask them if they would come and do the work!!!

Weekly farming update! Been another week of 'pottering' about getting bits of machinery ready. Some really welcome rain! Don't forget it's Open Farm Sunday today! Free entry aswell! We really recommend the one at Thorney near Peterborough plenty to do see and do there

Weekly farming update! Not been at work all week as had a short break visiting in laws in Poland. Come back to see everything is struggling after the lack of rain & heat! Currently having a catch up with some mates at another local farm sale. Soon won't be any of us left with all these sales!

Weekly farming update! Trying not to be a bit downbeat bit crikey my wheat isn't enjoying this weather! And the less said about the relaxation of tariffs on a 100 items to bring down food costs for cost of living! Especially as next week off to see in laws in Poland! Milego Weekendu everyone!

Weekly farming update! (Which I missed last week again!) Partly because it's not all that exciting at the moment! It has rained though! Could do with a bit more (never happy with the weather us lot!). Been a week in the workshop mostly tinkering about trying to restore a vintage Caterpillar crawler!

Weekly farming update..and it's an exciting one! Today I signed to rent some more land....a whole...wait for it....11 acres! Clarkson & Dyson must quaking in their boots at this! It also really needs to rain now! Proper rain aswell non of this light drizzle we got the other night!

Weekly farming update (missed last week sorry!). Things are steady at the moment, bit of machinery servicing, yard tidying etc. Biggest thing is that I may soon be doing a rain dance, it's desparately needed! Although my other half says I can't dance at all so I guess it won't help!

Weekly update! Not much to update really! Contracted myself out to a neighbour to help them out for a few days, was good not to worry about how much fuel I was using! Even took a day off to have a family day at Woodhall Spa (the nicest part of Lincolnshire!) Could do with some proper rain though

Keep seeing a lot about 4p bags of carrots in Lidl. Carrot growing is not my area so can't comment too much on what the contract is with supermarkets but my 1st thought is how many of those carrots will go to waste once bought. Do people know how to store & cook them these days?

I wonder if in a couple of 100 years detectorists will wander my fields & find parts of a Dowdeswell plough & they end up in a museum as that's all they will probably find! Of course I've always King John's treasure is under one of my sheds!

Weekly farming update! (Sorry missed last week!) Finished drilling all the sugar beet today, conditions really good if a little cold. Veg company that now grows the cabbages & cauliflowers have been busy planting the past week aswell. I'm now ready for a nice long rest this weekend!!

Weekly update! Finished daffodil cropping now, will let the rest bloom away beautiful in the field. Well until I brutally chop their heads off in a few weeks! Bought a 'new' (built in 1999!) trailer yesterday. Just waiting on soil to warm up to get sugar beet drilling.

Ah so turns out they moved to Lincs for the cheaper housing etc & now they don't like the countryside changing! They never ask someone who has lived there all their lives do they! Maybe this couple should ask farmers why they are letting their land be used to for solar panels!

The Guardian Climate News (unofficial)@guardian-climate.bsky.social

‘It was our little idyll – until the solar farm landed’: the battle raging in the heart of the British countryside: In one corner, clean energy champion Ed Miliband. In the other, residents – and Reform politicians – outraged at plans for more large-scale solar farms in Lincolnshire than ...

Potatoes are actually a very healthy food depending on how they are cooked obviously. Versatile aswell. I think another problem is people just don't like scrubbing or preparing them these. I'm also quite please we don't grow them anymore though!

Weekly update! Hope everyone is enjoying their daffodils today! Been a super busy week for them, Mother nature played her part this week good timing! Apart from the wind! Bit of a battle against fly tippers this week. Finished fertiliser spreading on wheat..it'sprobably worth more than the wheat!

Thought I'd do a bit of a farming update! Daffodils have really come on this week, been busy cropping, market is decent. Got 1st lot of fertilising done, worked over some old cauliflower land that a fellow farmer had some sheep on. Got the yearly bill from the crooks that are Red Tractor! #farming
