One thing not enough people understand. The extra money it costs for gas is not paying for the war (like Trump would like you to think). No, it's going straight to the oil companies. They are not paying more for the oil, they are just selling it for more. Price gouging is what it is called.

Those who have been saying that Trump is not the problem but a symptom of the problem may be onto something. Trump only has relevancy because of exposure. Remove that exposure, he dries up. Oligarchs (likely Russian to start with) found how to exploit him (2016). Add axis of evil, and here we are.

Add to this the amount he's spent on elections in Brazil and Israel, and this could be the start of the collapse.

Billionaires should not exist. Elon Musk becomes biggest donor of US midterms cycle with $366m spent Musk’s midterm donations, mostly for rightwing candidates and causes, surpass his contributions to Trump in 2024 www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

The air. In the mid 1970s, in most large cities across this country, it was so smoggy that breathing was hazardous. Imagine the wildfire smoke of last summer year-round, every year, for the rest of your life. That was the outlook in the 70s. We Can do it. We just have to try.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

I really like his last line, "It's so much more fun to find a reason to love someone than it is to find a reason to hate them." Yunno, I really haven't paid a lot of attention to Hunter. Maybe that should change. Not that I think he is electable, but perhaps he makes sense.

Can someone explain to me (as if I had a Engineering degree if you must) how kicking people off of Medicaid is going to lower healthcare costs? To my simple understanding of economics, you reduce the amount of money going into an industry, its output drops while the costs rise for what remains

The truly sad thing will be revealed on election day. Even if Vivek loses (which he likely will), he will likely garner over 40% of the vote. With nearly 6 million voters, that means over 2 million Ohioans do not see a problem here. That's larger than the population of the greater Cincinnati area.

In any other admin, this would probably be the most outrageous official statement ever made by a sitting FCC director: Strongly implying that the government forbids broadcast networks from reporting on the president's falling poll numbers. (Sorry to paste from twitter but that's where he posts.)

While many in MS might be confused, Fitch is not on the ballot next month. Regardless, a vote for any Republican is a vote to continue this thinking. Babies should not be shot because they need diapers. ('Lynn Fitch for Governor' ads have been running for the past month. MS Gov election is in 2027)

JUST IN: The police shooting that killed 1-year-old Kohen Wiley as he sat in his mother’s lap in a Walmart parking lot in Senatobia, Miss., in June “was justified,” Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office said on Monday. Her office will not charge the white officer who shot the child.

The back story on who got Fox to take Zacharia out will be interesting. First they got her placed, then they made sure Hannity and F&F -- Trump's two main shows -- ripped her to shreds. Impressive work, whoever did it.

I just have to repost this to bring attention to the Freudian Slip in the Chyron.

KILMEADE: Inflation is up 3.7% & gas is up 9%. For people who say 'I'm going to vote for the other party,' what do you say? KATIE ZACHARIA: Well, the reason we're in this situation is Biden, so I would say President Trump has done everything he's been able to. You can't correct the ship overnight.

Well, you know, the local mobster doesn't have a problem with the local drug dealer, as long as he gets his cut. The problem, it would appear, is that the Mob Boss wasn't getting his cut.

The problem is with Dem leadership that expects when the Dems win, it will mean a similar mandate. Don't be idiots. The only way to beat bigots is to shame them. Publicly and often. It was working. Look at public opinion on homosexuality. But, Trump made it OK to be a bigot, again. Our loss.

Oliver Willis@owillis.bsky.social

Both the mainstream media and the gop (and dem leadership) bought into this notion that Trumps squeaker of a win over Harris was this giant sweeping mandate for conservatism and Trumpism. It never was. He won against a Democratic Party that has spent multiple decades hobbling itself. That’s it.

Why am I thinking that Trump was picking out hat designs before he took the stage?

Trump on Cognitive Exam: “They give you five words: Hat, Hair, Logo, White, Black. I repeated them later. They said, “holy shit.” Almost no one can do it. But I can because I’m a freaking genius. He already forgot they were Person, Woman, Man, Camera and TV. Courtesy of @acyn.bsky.social

I could understand* our rejection of democracy as a nation in favor of autocratic fascism if the guy calling the shots had good economic and/or strategic plans for where we are going. *Note that I am not be happy with this trajectory, but at least it would make sense. But this shit makes no sense

What BS! If they aren't making claims, they aren't costing anything. I really wish they'd show their work when they make these outlandish claims. The track record of this administration does not lend itself to any benefit of doubt.

RFK Jr announces a new initiative to kick people off their healthcare coverage but insists it's no big deal because "they don't even know they were enrolled in anything. They never make a claim."

Unfortunately, even after the wounds have scarred over and relationships rebuilt, there will be those who believe that Trump was right all along. Those will be the ones trying to keep their children from learning.

Trump's new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, is on record believing in the Pizzagate scandal, so every reporter should ask this lunatic conspiracy theorist only about her Pizzagate views and nothing about Trump or his policies, which will cause Trump to fire her crazy ass.

I got my absentee vote packet yesterday. It's more complicated to fill out than my income taxes. Keeping in mind that any error, however minor, is reason for rejection, I'm kinda scared to fill it out. I guess that's the point. They want collect my taxes, but reject my vote.

I'm sorry, but after we kick Trump to the curb, I want him to parade naked down the streets of DC, ala the emperor with no clothes (let him wear a G-string, as if you could tell). Then, when he's on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, I want joystick control of his cyborg legs and make him dance!

I have to assume that, just like the strikes on Venezuela and Iran were dividends to the Oil Companies for their investment in the Trump regime, the Diesel deal with Putin is the same thing.

Of course, he's trying to start a race war. More like a "Let's you and him fight," kind of war, but he's been doing it for more than half a century. The big question, in my mind, "Are Americans dumb enough to fall for it?"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump tries to start a race war: "The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants ... The Somalians should not be allowed to get away with what they are doing. They view you as weak and stupid people. Fight back Minnesota, fight back!"

All this about Trump and nuking LA and SD-you knew when he uttered it that he specifically used wording he could deny. You heard it yet want to pretend that he was deadly serious. Weak sauce. But, to get Americans to cheer for an enemy nuking American cities, that was no mistake. That is the story

To see Trump's blatant racism (and misogyny), compare his response to Central Park 5 case with the Cornell 7. With CP5, the guilt of the perps was undeniable and called for the Death Penalty. With the C7, he hoped the perps were 'given a fair shake'. There was no concern for the woman in either.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Remember when Trump said there was "very fine ppl on both sides" of a white supremacist rally, & everybody heard it loud & clear, but then he spent years gaslighting about it bc at another point he said "you had some very bad ppl in that group" as if that excused him praising violent racists? I do!

I heard this morning that Trump has been pressuring other countries (EU & CAN, I assume) to lower their pollution standards (like he's done with the US). But, wait! I thought we had to lower the US standards to lower our MFG costs. If all other countries are our economic enemy, is this treason?

I'll buy they are all crooks. I am having trouble with "some are just dumber than others". How can you tell? I mean, Trump's position should be obvious, but then look at Tuberville. OK, can't get dumber than Tuberville? How about Guilfoyle? There is no bottom (& they're fighting for it).

Wait a minute!? There is a GOP candidate for governor of Colorado who has made it through the primaries with the last name of Marx? And they say we are the socialists!

Kyle Clark@kylec.bsky.social

NEW: GOP Gov nominee Victor Marx told backers on a Zoom call last night that he doesn't regret slamming his wife into a door to teach her a lesson about self-defense. "I'd do it again," Marx said. Marx says she fake cried and physicality is just the nature of their relationship.

They don't really understand that the higher gas prices are not paying for the war. The way Trump puts it, it sounds as if they are. But, make no mistake, the the 'small price to pay' goes from your pocket to the billionaires' pocket to make them richer. None of the higher gas pays for the war.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay ... let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay."
